      Mainly because pilots can't see obstacals and things behind them if they use reversers instead of pushback.and when the reversers being used at terminals it makes hell of a noise which scares people.......

        It uses a lot of fuel to use reverse thrust and suck every loose piece out trash near the terminal maybe?
