115B engine was tested at 128K thrust during certification, although it was officially rated at 115K.
128K X 2 is tantalizingly close to the power requirements of A388. I understand that engine manufacturers keep wide safety margins and never certify the engines anywhere near the edge of the capability envelope, but if GE tried they could have (within reason) produced an engine, two of which would have been sufficient to power A388.
