Protocol says, UL should fly him to Manila, and the PR will fly him where-ever

Unless due to the change of Administration, somebody didn't want to annoy anybody and did a Plan B !

Of course, PR will be more than happy to fly him all over the world, considering the amount of Media coverage they will reap out of it ..

The Pope left for the Philippines on board a SriLankan Airlines flight. I thought SriLankan will use A330-343E to transport pope to Manila?

Papal Plane (UL4111) just flew past Phnom Penh. It is now set to enter Vietnamese airspace.

Any possibilities Srilankan airlines starting direct schedule flights to Manila?

Nope they won't. There isn't any bilateral trade and it is a very low yielding market. Plus I believe a direct flight would be out of range for a A320/321. A332/A333 and A343 will be two big. An example of how low yielding and how much budget focused PH is. PR I believe flies the A333 with the highest density. If I am not mistaken A333 with 404 seats. 390 Y and 14 Y+
