Is there any restriction for Sri Lankan fly via Turkey ? I have plans to fly from Colombo - London on TK in April or May 2013. Do you think it's safe to book it with TK ?

You are absolutely correct...Could add Canada and north Africa as well...

I have visited IST A decent modern looking Airport...TK is the best European Airline and one of the safest....it used to be called like flying El Al...TK has expanded and Turkey is doing well economically. Spend a day in Istanbul....one of the beautiful cities in the world.

in what context do you ask this ?

Delays upto 1 hour can occur, if the arrivals are stacked, as happens often in SIN and KUL, and staggered departure can take about 30 minutes or more to reach the active - as happens quite often in MNL and BKK, all beyond the control of the airline

On-time is calculated based on the time the cabin door is closed and ready for departure, never mind if the push back takes 15 minutes and congestion all adds another 30 minutes or more .. and same for arrival. If the flight is 6 hours, if the plane is above destination in 6 hours, but ATC holds them for an hour .. still it is considered on time arrival.

Flight Connections are one of the big problem for GF loosing the business. Reportedly, GF is shrinking their services further from this month as Beirut 10 to 6 Weekly, Chennai 14 to 10 Weekly, Muscat 28 to 20 Weekly, Bangkok 7 to 6 Weekly, Frankfurt 12 to 7 Weekly, Khartoum 11 to 7 Weekly, Paris 9 to 7 Weekly, Manila 11 to 7 Weekly and Rome completely cancelled. Additionally GF cuts B787 order from 24 to 12/16. Didn't understand why GF went to order for more wide-bodies when their business is NOT stable.

Question: I will be flying to Europe. I know that our aircraft will land in İstanbul. I am not planning to leave the transit lounge. Do I need to get transit visa?

Answer: If you will not leave the transit lounge at the airport you are not required to have transit visa.

                      • Heard an MH flight from CMB-KUL turned back a few days ago and spent around 3 hours on the ground before departing again, anyone know what the reason was?

                        • TRZ - CMB timings as reported by TRZ Airport Manager

                          CMB departure @ 0710 hrs

                          Aircraft to do XXX-CMB-TRZ-MAA-TRZ-CMB-XXX

SpiceJet might not park their Q400 in CMB.

They might fly to IXM and park there or fly onward to HYD or BLR and park there.
