RJ has reduced the CMB flights from three to two weekly between 22-May-3 Jul 2013, onboard A320 instead of usual A332/A342. I think RJ's A320 which fly on Amman-Colombo will have Technical Stop in Al Ain. Anybody know why RJ cut down the flights of CMB ?Comment

MJ can't manage with two A321s as 4R-MRE on AOG. They definately need additional aircraft to manage their flights that operates for 3x DXB, 4x SHJ, 6x BAH, 4x IXM, 5x DAC, 7x CGK on top of that MJ launched second Indonesian destination, Medan (twise a week) on 22-May-2013. Not sure... seems as though they must have had good load factors up until now. A year or two ago they switched the aircraft on the route from an Airbus A310 to the A330s and A340s... not sure why they are suddenly cutting down. I would think that Royal Jordanian might have load factor on European tourists connecting to Sri Lanka among others, but I guess it's not as popular as it used to be. Just wanted to knw weather the A340's flown by Sri Lankan airlines is a success? Looking from an economic point of view.. I knw its passenger capacity is more compared with the A330... But i have noticed that many people say that the fuel side of the plane isnt that great.. Just wanted to knw ur opinions abt this...

I've heard similar complaints to that effect about the effectiveness of the A340 when it comes to efficiency economically. In a recent article I read about the loss which UL is currently suffering from, the author highlighted the fact that the Airbus A340 has not been helpful when it comes to profit on long routes. It cited that the introduction of the Airbus A330-300, which is far more fuel-efficient, might help Sri Lankan Airlines do better moneywise. I hope that is correct! While I do like the A340 as an aircraft, I think it is not good at all on fuel efficiency, and in today's economy airlines cannot afford that.Originally posted by Kusal7 View PostHey guys

This is a question that has throbbed in my mind :
If Sri Lankan airlines are sensitive about fuel cost's and fuel efficiency why haven't they suited the existing A320's with fuel saving shark-lets?
Or is the A320's currently operating moderately fuel efficient?Comment
