Wouldn't be surprised if it was misreported and they are for example, converting an A340 to VVIP config (or converting one of UL's 320s into VVIP config and replacing it with a 321).

On a side note does anyone have access to the following site:

Heard that they will fix the cabin whenever A333 is required for the President's travel. It takes around a day, with security etc. Surely, they can't be so foolish and wasteful as to reserve an entire A333 at all times for use by the President, even when he is not flying? Or is that what they are planning?

Looking forward to see the interior pictures of 4R-ABR. SriLankan's second A321 (4R-ABR) started the revenue service for the airline on the 6/10/2014 on route CMB-MLE. Is SriLankan going to get more used A321 from QR or any other airline ?

Is it getting new business class configuration and is it because of one missing aircraft not operating causing all the delays this week. My friend has flights from Colombo to Rome, and flight had over 5 hours delay both on Thursday and Saturday. What is with all the delays happening?
If I am not mistaken 4R-ALD must be on C-Check and still with an old interiors?

According to Flightradar24, 4R-MRE sent to MLE on 4/10/2014 as MJ13. Now we understand, that's why Mihin reduced the flights to IXM, BAH, CGK in October.

According to FR24, it was operated to MLE as UL105, but no info of return. But same was operated latter in that day in HRI-GAY-CMB-IXM-CMB-SHJ-CMB. Reached CMB on 5th morning 5.45 am.

                    1. Flight UL505 (CMB-LHR) on SUNDAYS have already been delayed severely by at least 2-3 hours for the last few weeks. The flight today is even scheduled to depart at 06:05 now, rather than the original 02:45. Can anyone explain what's going on?
My guess would be there was no crew available and they had to delay the flight until a crew had enough rest to be able to perform this flight.

They are increasingly short of crew - 65+ Pilots have put in their notice. All going to EY/QR. That represents over 20% of the Pilots. These are all Sri Lankans - I guess they have no confidence in the way UL is being run.

Not sure what is happening in the Cabin Crew or Engineering but I suspect a lot of people are leaving.

No Expats are applying to UL - the word is out in the International Pilot Community about how UL has treated its Expat Pilots.

Expect this to occur more frequently in the coming months.

Perhaps 4R-MRE and 4R-ALD are undergoing C-Check. It's better for them to complete the maintanance for one or two aircraft before November/December when they are planning return 4R-ABJ and 4R-ADA from the fleet.

They are training/recruiting cadets. They are losing people faster than they can replace them. 65+ people represents 3 years training capacity.

It's the best people who are leaving - met one of them in Paris a few months ago. No Airline can afford to have this happen.

You can't replace experienced Captains with cadets.
