"Fictional" may be the key word. There is currently a Nigerian airline called Air Peace, and there is a defunct Canadian regional airline called Peace Air (which operated until 2007 with a base in Alberta)... Ms. Wethasinghe's FaceBook page lists her as the Marketing Director of Peace Air Ltd. from 2001 to the present, and this particular Peace Air Ltd. (as per the FaceBook link from her page) apparently has its base in Medicine Hat, Alberta; maybe, the non-operational Canadian Peace Air and the one bidding for UL are the same, or related...

SriLankan Airlines's Two A330-300s are not grounded as mentioned in the above News-Link. 4R-ALL and 4R-ALM are due to be delivered to PIA by the end of Feb 2017. Currently these two A330-300s are mainly serving short and medium haul flights.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is a UN specialized agency, established by States in 1944 to manage the administration and governance of the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention).

The next ICAO Air Services Negotiation Conference (ICAN2017) will take place in Sri Lanka in December 2017.

In the meantime, the embarkation tax for departing passengers has been revised to Rs. 7,000 per person from January 1, up from Rs 4,250.

ha ha ha...threw out EK...QR said NO (then criticized the CEO) ...WY was not give landing right until Oman said overflight would be cancelled ...who else are they trying to convince

Both EK and EY are in consolidation mode with aircraft deliveries being postponed. QR says they are still growing organically, but not sure how long that will last.

I will be very surprised if any of these carriers have the appetite for UL, especially at a time when EY is trying to divest some of its investments in other carriers, with the departure of JH.

When you're out of money you start taking increasingly desperate measures to get money any way you can. This is the situation the GOSL finds itself in.

Terminal construction started? No.

Why? There is no money.

There's plenty of stolen money available if they chose to go after the people responsible ($20 Billion at least according to the newspapers..).

Since that is unlikely the alternative will be Economic Chaos.

It's not going to be pretty but perhaps this is needed as a Catalyst for real change - not more empty promises.

SriLankan Airlines (UL, Colombo International) has reportedly racked up USD15.9 million in losses as a result of PIA's delays in taking receipt of two A330-300s. The aircraft are part of a July agreement wherein PIA - Pakistan International Airlines (PK, Islamabad International) said it would wet-lease three A330-300s from SriLankan for use by its "Premier" service brand. PIA took delivery of 4R-ALN (cn 1604) in August and has since deployed it into service on Premier-branded services from Islamabad International and Lahore International to London Heathrow. The contract's two other A330s - 4R-ALL (cn 1564) and 4R-ALM (cn 1583) - were to have arrived before year-end. According to airline sources quoted on the SriLanka Mirror news site, the delays relate to the Pakistanis' desire to lower the overall cost of the contract by converting it into a dry-lease arrangement. In August, PIA said each aircraft would operate for eleven block hours per day for a daily cost of USD88,000 or USD264,000 for all three aircraft. The Mirror report suggests that given these overheads, PIA has been unable to get the desired returns from its investment and has now sought talks with SriLankan Airlines CEO Suren Ratwatte to revise the contract. SriLankan's board has instructed Ratwatte to find an amicable solution to the matter.

This is what happens when you have unqualified and incompetent people at all levels in the Airline.

'Big Talk' Ajith Dias is very quiet - guess he can't blame this on the Middle East Carriers.

problem with Sri Lankans is they blame everything on everyone else rather than to look inside...$60 on embarkation tax??? that is equivalent for a base fare in most of inter European/North American flights...and they are wondering why europeans airline are not flying to Colombo
