Nice job if you can get it!

I bet they're buying out his contract - he can travel in Business to Melbourne with all his ill-gotten gains. He'll be enjoying the good life courtesy of the Sri Lankan people!

This way he gets out before the shutdown - as an insider he knows what's coming.

Ranjit Fernando is the latest BS talking Chairman.

Employees are in no way responsible for the massive losses at SriLankan and nothing they can do will change that.

The losses are due to the lease contracts at too high rates with no termination clause.

Increase in fuel prices will also push up the losses.

And of course there's the U$800 Million they owe airbus for 4 A350 aircraft - also appears to be a contract with no termination clause.

I see he fails to mention any of this in his letter.

No mention of criminal charges against those responsible - some of whom are still employed by the Airline.

How stupid does he think people are? It's insulting.

The sooner the IMF forces the GOSL to shut this down the better for the country imho.

Azamh, I believe its still in the maintenance hangar for repairs as it hit the runway lights in COK a couple of weeks ago due to cross wind.

A350Spotter, Do you have a latest update about 4R-ALR? When you guys are planning to release her from the hangar?

Good to see another carrier planing to fly this sector!
This will probably take a direct hit on SriLankan which operate 2 Rotations daily

Any Update regarding AirAsia SriLanka ?

ALR was undergoing some maintenance checks and left the hangar on Thursday if I’m not wrong.

i anticipate some resistance so called patriots who do not see the other side of the coin..

                        • Everyone knows how "Business" is done in Sri Lanka.

Doubt you'll see AirAsia Sri Lanka - you can't do legitimate Business in the current climate.

Aviation hub is another fantasy for the same reason.

                          • SriLankan Airlines chairman Ranjit Fernando confirmed to TTG Asia that CEO Suren Ratwatte, who has been criticised in the past for extravagant spending, is stepping down in August. “We are interviewing a couple of local and foreign candidates for the post,” Fernando said.

Most likely structural checks and possible replacement of various landing gear components and/or repairs to the wing box.

It all depends on the side loads experienced by the landing gear in Cochin.

                                Serious $$$ in any case.
