Direct flight is not a wise idea . If really need can extended DAC ( Bangladesh) flight RGN ( Myanmar)

There is few routs to be fixed before this sector . SGN ( Vietnam ) MNL ( Philippines) can start via BKK additional flight and Via HKG . Also ICN must be daily flight . Also UL 364 CGK must extended to DPS - Denpasar , Bali with one hour technical stop at CGK

ATR’s seem practical as they have previously operated them…..in this case they should deploy them from RML to Maldives and South India

What happened to the plans to get 400s? They are much faster (over 100 ktas) and will be back in RML and turned and gone on its way to TRV while the ATR is still wallowing in the clag back from MLE They also carry 90 pax whereas the ATR tops out at 72 and then you have problems carrying all the bags

Agreed. They’ve probably gone ahead with the ATR’s based on their current utilization of their A320ceo’s - I’ve noticed 4R-EXR being primarily deployed to DXB and operating just two sectors per day along with EXS operating to MAA and MLE
Any reason why they aren’t fully utilizing them unlike the other LCCs in the region which look for optimal utilization

Loads not good is the most common reasons. You're right though target daily utilization for a LCC should be at least 12 hours but you can possibly get 16 (especially with a newer fleet). Typical utilization for Sunwing (Canadian LCC) sees the airplane depart at 0630 and back from final rotation around 0150 the next day (with 1 hr turns): roughly about 16 hours with a 73H or 7M8. The speed of the DH4 will give it comparable blocks to the 320 up to 250 nm. Interestingly the block time on the Dh4 to Montreal from Toronto Island (YTZ) is about 10-15 minutes less than the equivalent journey from Pearson (YYZ) on the Buses or 737s.

Sri Lanka Eyes Chinese Tourism to Help Ease Debt Crisis

Sri Lanka was holding talks with Chinese carriers, including China Southern Airlines and Air China, asking them to increase the number of flights to Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is mulling measures to lure back Chinese tourists in a bid to alleviate an unprecedented debt crisis, its tourism minister said, as the South Asian nation tries to stabilize the economy.

The country is targeting half a million Chinese tourists in 2024, nearly double its pre-Covid visitor levels, Tourism Minister Harin Fernando said at a press briefing in Beijing on Monday.

Passenger movements at BIA up by 20%

Passenger movements at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) have risen by approximately 20%, and flight movements recorded a growth of 7% in Q1 of 2023 compared to Q1 of 2022. When comparing the first quarter of 2023 to the same period in 2022, we observe substantial growth in both passenger and flight movements.”

SriLankan Airlines tenders for one A320/1ceo dry-lease

SriLankan has issued a Request for Proposals for the six-year dry-lease of a single A320-200 or A321-200.

The aircraft has to be 15 years of age or younger at the moment of delivery, which is tentatively expected in December 2023. SriLankan is also open to bids from its current lessors to extend the contracts on their existing aircraft by another six years.

The financially ailing state-owned carrier issued another RFP for five second-hand A320 Family aircraft and five second-hand A330 Family aircraft in December 2022.

Great news! Seems like Air Seychelles uses Sri Lankan Airlines for onward connections. Just check on their website. onwards are with UL. Though some of the onward destinations do not connect with the first connecting flight.
