Hey Banu it's a short term lease. They registered the aircraft in nz registration so nz pilots and crew can fly it. Will be flying AKL Honolulu route. It's until the 787s are back in service. HiFly A340... Ex SriLankan 4R-ADE will go back.

                Update:

Qatar Airways is sending their first inaugural A350-900XWB flight to Colombo as QR662 (Down) & QR663 (Up) operating on the 1st July 2018 on-board Latam Airlines A350 which was leased sometime back by Qatar. The aircraft will be in Latam Airlines livery but will be bearing a Qatar airways registration.

The first flight will be on the 1st July 2018, and it will continue to be the same from then onward, whilst replacing the Airbus A320 service.

                Awaiting pictures from CMB!

I don't know why it changed to 2nd July though. It was supposed to be here today, but it was a sudden change to 320. Wonder why?

Even in the Qatarairways booking site, it mentioned 350-900 (with LATAM configuration) as aircraft operating from the 1st of July.

I think we'll see it hopefully after the B-787 Dreamliner which is operating the inaugural flight today (1st July from DOH).
I forgot about the previous news that stated firstly it will be operated by the Boeing 787 - which will afterwards be operated by the 359.

Got an update from Qatar Airways itself, the 359 will be operating from tonight onwards. It will leave DOH on the 1st July and land at CMB on the 2nd July at around 0305 hours.

Colombo bound A7-AMB is now flying above Arabian Sea. Any reason the aircraft is not in QR livery ?

These aircrafts are not belonging to QR. It has a QR registration but the aircraft owner is still LATAM. QR hired those few years back to fulfill their increasing demand and expanding network.
