I think YYZ will be better with B777z.... coz using A340z for Ultra-long haul flights is costly

Actually, TMA's planes are on some wet lease from Ken Borek - who is the largest operator of Twotters in the world

well, seriously, if there are enough STOL runways, I see no reason for seaplanes in Sri Lanka, other than for novelty factor.

Knowing the load factors (a friend flew to Weligama - he was the sole pax, on departure, 2 pax got out, and on arrival, he was met by 2 pax - makes sense to kill it off I guess

or put back the wheels and fly the Twotter in it's natural land based guise ..

          which 777 can fly non-stop CMB-YYZ ?

Oh, then, crew commonality ? Or is UL minting money and not telling anybody - minting enough money to train new crew and infrastructure on B 777 ?

77W should be able to operate CMB-YYZ-CMB without penalties, although it may be pushing it closer to the edge. However, like mentioned above it does not make sense to re-invent the wheel with Boeing just for the sake of a couple of frames.

UL should get this idiotic idea off their heads that opening up new routes to all the fancy cities is going to help them keep their nose above the water.

They need to increase frequnecy in to their existing posts and solidify their position and make a profit first before embarking on extravagant projects.

Operating daily direct flights to Asian / Chinese destinations should be their priority.

I think UL management has realised that and even tried to cancel a few European destinations before being overruled. IMHO they should leave most of Europe to their Etihad codeshare and maybe only operate flights to London, Frankfurt and Paris. UL should focus on Asia & Middle East where the growth is. However I think that UL could start a flight to Africa and try market CMB as a stopover to China. Even MJ could possibly fly to Tier 2 Chinese Cities and former Soviet States which have good potential.

Or perhaps the Test Flight was operated by 4R-ALJ which is going to start the revenue operation at anytime because the seat installation has now been completed.

Maybe a real "TEST FLIGHT" of the Flight Info system

I don't remember test flight being listed in any FIS - as the FIS is meant for passenger info ..
