    Hydraulic failure on 4R-ALD

Colombo (Sri Lanka) - A plane airline of Sri Lanka SriLankan Airlines was forced to turn around and rest on the Colombo (Sri Lanka) due to hydraulic problems International Airport after an hour's flight . The plane, an Airbus 340-300, flight UL314, which was to make the connection between the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) International Airport with 296 passengers on board, departed to 8:20 PM local with 45 minutes behind the scheduled time, and was flying for about an hour when pilots were alerted to a problem with the hydraulics of the machine. They then decided to turn back to rest in Colombo. Aircraft rested without further incident, amid the emergency vehicles and there are no injuries. The passengers were deplaned and transferred to the terminal until the airline can carry them out. The company technicians will examine the device to determine the causes of the failure.

Thanks Serendib for the update. Yeah 4R-ALD was the aircraft which had the technical issue yesterday when it operate UL314. But the issue on this aircraft had been sorted out yesterday and it was operating UL217 to Doha and today is flying to Moscow as UL533.

Why do you think Melbourne route is important for SriLankan ? I thought SriLankan better strengthen their regional network as they are making losses in long-haul market.

That's why I would like to see a round flight combined with Munich. this may bring pax from Vienna , Prague , Budapest additionally to German tourists.

During this time air lanka should increase more flights from sri lanka to rome.... They shold think about it.... More than tourists visit sri lanka... They prefer visit rome in christmas time.... It appears to be SriLankan going to increase the frequency on Frankfurt (from 4 to 5 weekly) and Moscow (from 2 to 3 weekly) effective Winter 2014. Aircraft to Rome going to be upgraded from A332/A343 to all three weekly A343. They better focus on profitable routes. What do you think ?

It's a strength that will only get stronger once UL have their foot on Australian airports. Look at Ek they have flight to NZ via Mel thus carrying full flights from DBX and expanding the network at the same time. This is just my opinion n Australia is the only continent that we still do not operate into. UL ready flys into Europe so why not help European tourist transit in CMB before moving to Aus .. This may increase pax loads instead of flying extra long direct flights.

I have nothing against UL start flights to Australia. but do they have enough Aircrafts to cover up? I believe not.
