Kenya and Sri Lanka in Jan 2011 signed a bilateral air agreement on direct fights between the two nations. The agreement allows direct flights access between the two countries with a total population of an estimated 60 million people. The minister said the agreement provides for unrestricted weekly frequencies.

Mihin Lanka will acquire an additional aircraft by the end of the year...“The airline is planning to lease an A321 aircraft which could accommodate 220 passengers,” ....hoping to fly to new destinations with this third aircraft....the budget airline is hoping to fly to Manila and Bangkok with the new addition...Sri Lanka has the ‘fifth freedom right’ from Thailand to fly to Manila and this will be exploited by Mihin to launch flights to Manila...“We have around 600 seats per week to Manila from Bangkok,” he said. “Thailand is an important market for Sri Lanka in terms of an airline hub and tourism. The airline is looking at a thrice a week frequency.....looking at flying to Calicut as a new destination and would also supplement SriLankan operations to Chennai.”....with the introduction of SriLankan airline flights to Moscow two additional stopovers have been created in Dubai. Due to this, Mihin Lanka will reduce three of its frequencies from the current six to Dubai and re route them to Sharjah by the end of this year. “This would be a two per week frequency,” .. http://www.dailynews.lk/2011/09/15/bus01.aspComment

Thanks for the news, Skyline. I wouldnt be surprised to see Mihin move to a full A321 fleet eventually. Havent heard of a LCC doing that before, although itll enable them to carry more passengers. Also, IMHO they should look at at least a daily frequency to most of their destinations (as a LCC).Comment

Unlike the news mentioned above, Mihin Lanka is currently flying daily to DXB (5 weekly operating on CMB-DXB-KWI & 2 weekly on CMB-DXB). But there is a plan cutting two of the Dubai flights. It’s likely SHJ will get three weekly MJ flights.
@ lordvader - Yes, Mihin Lanka should be flying with a daily frequencies especially to TRZ , MLE , DXB. Any idea where the MJ A321 to be leased from ? or are they now sourcing for the aircraft ?Comment

@ Kflyer - As far as I'm aware, 4R-ALA and 4R-ALC are already out with new config from the 1st and 3rd week of September 2011. I think 4R-ALB and ALD will start their flatbed refurbishment next week.
