Are they going to switch on the outer two engines?Probably to check the infrastructure...A380 readiness...I highly doubt CMB is ready to receive A380...I definitely know for baggage handling in CMB sucks, specially arrivals belts cannot even handle a 747 properly. overflowing check In, immigration and security clearance. PAX movement in CMB already exceeds it design limitation by 50%Comment

Hi Banu, yes thats what i heard. EK applied permission to use this route and got the approval. They will start the route later this year or beginning of next year. Probably EK654 is a test flight to see how CMB handles the A380?Comment

bringing the aircraft in part of the infrastructure availability....Terminal capacity and the passenger flow is the otherComment

If i am not mistaken there wont be many other airline's aircraft and other airline's passengers at CMB during the departure of EK A380 at 22:10 hours. If EK is testing the capability of A380 service to CMB then EK will be using the air bridges. Most of the UL aircraft leaves CMB around 6pm/7pm to Gulf and India and they return to CMB after 11pm.Comment

SriLankan 4R-ALA (A332) have been flying UL Revenue Flights since 11-Jul.In another tragic case of mismanagement EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) has decided to suspend it’s approval for SriLankan Airlines due to serious audit finding at SriLankan Airlines. As per our source there were several very serious Level 1 findings which show the Airline has violated the rules set by EASA.
This decision according to a senior Captain will severally affect the Airline, which is already a loss making white elephant. All maintenance activities will now be compelled to be outsourced to nearby countries. Already 4R-ALA A330-200 Airbus is in Indonesia at the Garuda maintenance facility. SriLankan is paying USD 95,000.00 per aircraft only for Labour charges, excluding material costs. There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for the Airline and the Taxpayers with the current CEO and the Board and sadly due to the inaction of the Prime Minister.

There are quite a few departures at that time TK, EY, WY, MU, QR, 9W...but my main concern is baggage handling...CMB baggage handling sucks specially in arrivals...belts can hardly manage a 747If i am not mistaken there wont be many other airline's aircraft and other airline's passengers at CMB during the departure of EK A380 at 22:10 hours. Emirates, flydubai join forces with new agreement
http://www.arabianbusiness.com/conte...-new-agreement
This has been in the pipeline for a while now and has finally been announced.
EK and FZ combined should be the second biggest operator in CMB next to UL (off the top of my head).
How will this affect CMB specifically and SL aviation in general?Comment

Is Emirates A380 (EK654/655) on August 14th just oneoff flight or.. will they continue to operate at least week a flight
As of now this not in their (Emirates) schedule beyond 14/08/2017.Attached FilesLast edited by vishwa; 17-07-2017, 05:36 PM.Comment

EK is in the habit of sending their A380 to airports that generally do not get A380 traffic (sometimes at the invitation of the airport, like they did with ORD last year to test the infrastructure readiness).
Somehow ORD ground crew managed to scrape the A380 on that instance.
This could be a similar attempt by EK to test the ability of CMB to handle the aircraft.
This does sound like a one off flight.Comment
