    After EK pullout from CMB-SIN route, SriLankan Airlines is going to operate 7 weekly A333 & 14 weekly A320/A321 to Singapore.

    Good to hear Air Vistara is going to fly DEL -CMB from October. Any one have the flight schedule?

          Yes - after sitting in Toulouse for 2.5 years. What do you think this cost airbus and Aercap?

          2 of them are still sitting there.

          Neither company will be doing UL any favours imho.
          Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

            Aercap got the money...

            all 3 were leased to Sichuhan...within 4 weeks (3 weeks I think) of cancellation...It is matter of time for the other 2...Chinese government did not certify A350s until recently

            true they would not be doing any favours any more

              This isn't correct - Aercap took delivery of A350 MSN52 in Dec 2016 and it was then stored in Toulouse. the aircraft was powered up and run once a month. Aercap had to pay to have this delivered plus storage costs.

              The Sichuan lease didn't come until later. The second aircraft was also stored and it looks like completion of the third one was delayed.

              Having a brand new aircraft earning no revenue and depreciating in value represents serious $$$.


              The full scale of this fiasco for SriLankan is still unknown as this has still not been fully investigated. I expect there's plenty more to be revealed if this is investigated.

              I expect the "negotiations" are not going quite the way the Chairman is claiming. I suspect it's something closer to the "imminent arrest" of a former SriLankan Manager.

                This is correct UL paid $147million to AerCap

                within 3 to 4 weeks of cancellation Sichuan lease agreement was signed

                Chinese government delayed the certification and that's a fact

                  I doubt Sichuan was paying for aircraft that were parked.

                    Well when UL paid the cancellation penalty with Aercap UL responsibility comes to an end. Sichuan, Aercap and Airbus can sue CAAC for the delay in certification. Chinese were trying to pull a fast one by doing horse trading on delay A350 certification by trying to get EASA to certify Comac 919.

                    • Two SriLankan pilots remain grounded over Cochin mishap in May

                      Two SriLankan Airlines pilots are still grounded over an incident in which the A330-300 aircraft they were piloting veered towards the edge of the runway and damaged some ground lights in May this year.

                      “This is considered a serious incident and a formal inquiry is being conducted by the authorities in India where the incident occurred,” Civil Aviation Director General H M C Nimalsiri said. He said SriLankan Airlines was cooperating with the Indian Civil Aviation authorities.

                      “A senior captain has been representing the airline at the inquiry,” he said. “We are not supposed to make our own conclusions until the Indian authorities release the formal report.”

                      SriLankan Airlines said at the time that all 228 passengers on board UL167 were safe. The flight from Colombo to Cochin landed in intense rain and “due to the ambient conditions, strong winds and heavy rain, the aircraft veered toward the runway edge and caused damage to some ground lights”.
