I am surprised KLM is still operating (I do not think yield is there) ...If the crude hits $80...I think many more airlines will reduce direct frequencies

European Airline quite happy to transfer CMB bound PAXs @ Indian and ME hubs

There were upwards of 400 Expat Pilots at TK at one point.

Not the ME3 but still significant.

Unfortunately they have been treated as third class employees (same thing happened at an Airline further East...) and are leaving in droves.

A lot of Ex TK (and Ex UL) at my current employer. More to come.

Most Pilots I know in the ME have left/are leaving/thinking about leaving.

anyone here knows why 4R-ALN is inactive for the past 4 days?

and since 4R-ANF is in service, which one of the 3 4R-ABL/MRD/MRE will be phased out?

Top SriLankan Airlines official faces arrest

A onetime top official of SriLankan Airlines under the previous regime is now facing arrest.

The move comes as the net is closing in on him after an investigation that is nearing completion by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID).

The FCID probe has revealed that the official concerned, whose name and alleged irregularities had already surfaced at the Commission of Inquiry now probing SriLankan Airlines, had amassed foreign currency to the tune of nearly ten million rupees in a foreign bank account.

FCID officials remained tight lipped about the country where the bank is located or how he had made large amounts of money.

However, the Sunday Times has learnt that the top official concerned had favoured a single party in several business transactions. For the help he extended, the parties involved had rewarded him with liberal foreign currency handouts.

Sources aware of the transactions say that the company in question which has been making payments has been identified, and proof of the funds lying in the bank has been obtained. The official concerned is to be taken into custody and produced in court.

This investigation is independent of the probe the Commission of Inquiry is now conducting on both SriLankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka.

Why won't they name this Clown?

My guess:- Kapila G or Nishantha W. Both belong behind bars imho.

Its a newspaper article. The fact that the newspaper even has information of an imminent arrest and then decided to publish it is concerning enough since the concerned individual will probably now have advance notice of their arrest

You don't think the individual involved has already been informed?

Everyone is being protected - not a single person has been charged in the UL/Mihin fiasco.

We all know how things work in Sri Lanka.

Let's see an actual arrest and then I'll believe this Commission is serious.

The Civil aviation authority has announced plans to promote domestic flights within Sri Lanka.

I think some aircraft in the SriLankan Airlines fleet leaving in a few months time but I am not sure about the registration yet. 4R-ALN was spotted in the CMB-hangar on the 19-Aug-2018. 4R-ABO also not flying for a couple of days. SriLankan's Melbourne flights have been delayed today for some reason?

On August 19th MEL-CMB flight was posted delayed and then cancelled. 4R-ALB reached Melbourne but did not depart. It could be a major issue with the air craft.

After long time UL is operating new A333 on Melbourne route. They should use A 333 instead of A 332 on CMB-MEL route. These A 332 are around 18 years old already

I wonder what could be the problem with the aircraft.
