        SriLankan Airlines clarifies incident regarding UL 503

        Colombo, May 03- SriLankan Airlines has issued a statement addressing the recent incident involving Flight UL 503 bound for London, which was diverted to Vienna International Airport in Austria due to a medical emergency.

        The airline confirmed that on May 1, 2024, Flight UL 503, carrying 272 passengers, was rerouted to Vienna due to a passenger requiring urgent medical attention.

        Despite the initial diversion for medical assistance, the flight encountered further delays due to a technical issue, preventing it from reaching its destination, Heathrow Airport, before its scheduled closure at 22:00hrs London time.

        Consequently, SriLankan Airlines made arrangements to reschedule Flight UL 503 for departure the following day. Passengers holding valid visas for Europe were provided with accommodation in Vienna during the interim period.

        Flight UL 503 eventually resumed its journey on May 2, 2024, arriving in London at 21:30hrs, London time. However, due to the delay, SriLankan Airlines had to cancel Flight UL 504 from London to Colombo on May 1, 2024. Affected passengers were promptly notified, with those who had already checked in receiving hotel accommodations.

        In light of the inconvenience caused, SriLankan Airlines extends sincere apologies to all affected passengers.

          8D ended their wet lease agreement with UL on April 30th as I said earlier, and date is not confirmed when EXQ joins with Air Arabia. EVN charter flights are done and will not operate EVN flights anymore. DAC load factor is not enough, struggling with building customer base for CMB-DAC-CMB flights. 4R-EXR will operate on DXB, DAC routes mostly, because EXS cannot land with higher load due to Airframe/structural and landing gear issues. EXS will operate MAA and MLE. Discussions are ongoing with lessors to lease two younger A321-231s now, to get two planes by End of this year.

                          The only current operating Lockheed Tristar L1011 was seen in flightaware last few days flying between Mojave, Palmdale airports.

                              According to this source, this air frame operated for Air Lanka for only 17 days. I really doubt it carried Air Lanka livery.

                                Only carried registration 4R-TNJ, was never in ALK livery, nevertheless we can still be happy that at least she wore 4R-TNJ titles on the fuselage.
