  • As an reply to all comments on Fits air, (this can be toooo long to read)

I would like to say, Airlines are dealing with Pax and Cargo, So there should be a reason to fly to a certain destination, our topic is CMB, SL.
If there are no reasons to fly to CMB, pax and cargo demand is decreasing, (simple logic)
That is why many airlines stopped flying to CMB. This is affecting Home based airlines also, our dearest UL and 8D.
Reasons for major issues with UL,
There is an operating profit but losses due to financial costs.
No growth without Fleet modernization or adding even used aircrafts but with a better consistent cabin interiors. (4R-ALT is coming as far as i know, with few more A330s)
No support from Government and Sri Lankan nationals .
Lack of Airport facilities at BIA (typical issue connected with Economic issues.)

8D is currently having many many issues.
    As usual finance sucks.
Technical issues are rising due to the age of aircrafts, 4R-EXR is coming back to here after wet -lease ops for G9,
They are reducing CMB-MAA-CMB flights due to lower demand, Like for CMB-MLE-CMB, cannot say the new frequencies.(meanwhile 6E is increasing)
Still DAC route is struggling, but there is a small increment in Pax figures compared to its inception.
CMB-DXB-CMB is performing well, letting 8D to increase frequencies, (can be up to double daily)
Cannot start JED flights with 5 hour airplanes.
No plans for more airplanes, since market prices and lease costs are high due to global shortage. EXR will support if 8D is planning new routes as they said.
Fuel costs are high, and aircrafts are not as fuel efficient as the A32Ns and A320WLs.

On both UL and 8D, commercial teams are lagging behind and even they don’t know about operations.

Yes, scheduled operation every Fridays. I caught it the last week it came on its' first flight. They even got a water salute. Maybe this was what the Iranian president wanted? I thought it was Mahan Air, but seems like Iran Airtour is operating instead.

Thanks, this is a year-round flight operating every Fridays. Remember Mahan Air used to connect 3 weekly Tehran-Colombo and Bandar Abbas-Colombo in the past using A300. So definitely there will be traffic in this route. Hopefully B9 will increase the frequency in coming months. Do you know how many passengers were in the inaugural flight?

Very strange there is not much publicity for Tehran-Colombo launch and the website for this airline also doesn't seems to be working. Nice to know B9 will be parked in CMB for almost 12 hours in CMB before it heading back to Tehran at 21:30hrs. Good for the spotters to see this bird parked in the tarmac.

I remember flying on A310 with KU back in 2010. If I am not mistaken no airline operated A310 to CMB after KU & RJ. Correct me If I am wrong.

As far as I am aware, I believe they will start operations using a leased a330? please someone correct me if i am wrong. They will possibly be expanding first to the Middle East and Asia Pacific before expanding into Australia and maybe Europe, If it actually launches though.

Yes, chairman Mr. Shafik Kassim has multiple businesses, FitsExpress, FitsRetail, DFCR, FitsCargo, FTSaero, Hienergy, 319 logistics etc...
Still Fits Air is running because of the support of other sister companies..

A330 plans are already closed, no more aircrafts for next few months, plans was to get A319 or an A321, but its not possible to get due to aircraft shortage.

4R-EXR wet leased with G9 Air Arabia, lease period is ending on 26th September.

If Air Ceilao have capacity to lease A330, why don't they joint venture with Fitsair to expand as one LCC airline from Sri Lanka? But Peter Hill has to remain as the CEO.

Will never happen, I dont think that Air Ceilao has capacity to operate 330, still 8D doesnt have capacity to handle an A330.
still pax ops at CMB is handled by UL for 8D...
                          many approvals pending from CAA.
catering, pax ground handling, cargo handling, medical....
