Lease return check usually takes upto 3-4 months and occasionally upto 6 months ...it depends on the requirements demanded by the owner of the aircraft... Almost every serialized part must match with the serial number it had upon arrival, when returning...so replacing components takes time.

QATAR Airways Assigns Colombo as New 2-class A340 Destination in W15

QATAR Airways this week has revised planned operation to Sri Lanka, as the 3 daily Doha – Colombo service switching to 2-class High Density Airbus A340-600, starting 25OCT15. The 3 daily A340 service will replace previously planned Boeing 777-300ER and 787-8 (the 787-8 operates 1 daily from 01SEP15 to 24OCT15).

Wow first ever A346 service to Colombo! I am happy Colombo to receive A346 instead of already planned B788. So after the retirement of UL A343s we will still see A346 thanks to QR. It seems to be QR has got excellent passenger loads to Colombo compared to EK? Any idea How many seats QR A340-600 have got?Comment

many complain that 340s a fuel guzzling monsters but if u utilize them on proper routes still it can be usefull . our a340s may have been too old but in the market we can find good 340s . instead of going to A350s spending much $$ isn't it still possible to lease a ten years old 340-300 / 600 and utilize them ?Comment

airberlin & NIKI to operate flights to Colombo in codeshare with Sri Lankan Airlines
SriLankan Airlines, the national airline of Sri Lanka, is the new codeshare partner of airberlin & NIKI. The three airlines are to operate daily codeshare flights between Germany, Austria and Sri Lanka via Abu Dhabi, which can be booked as of now.
airberlin & NIKI will apply their flight numbers to SriLankan Airlines' daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Colombo. SriLankan Airlines guests can now book airberlin and NIKI flights between Berlin-Tegel and Abu Dhabi and between Vienna and Abu Dhabi as a result of the codeshare agreement.

Of course it's possible - it's also one of the issues discussed in the Weliamuna report.
The purchase of new aircraft has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the requirements of UL - it's all about the side deals (commissions and kickbacks).
As far as I can tell this is the case with every contract signed by UL since the GOSL took over the Airline.
Each 1% of this order represents $23million. Commissions alone are worth 5-6% as a general rule.
This needs to be investigated and those responsible charged with theft and fraud.Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this businessComment
