    Austrian Airways to begin direct flights here

    Austrian Airways has made arrangements to operate a direct weekly flight to Sri Lanka from October 27 this year, said Civil Aviation Authority Director General H. M. C. Nimalsiri.

    "This is a result of bilateral talks between the Civil Aviation Authorities of Austria and Sri Lanka at Bali Island Indonesia in November 2014," he said.

    He said this will greatly help boost Sri Lanka's tourist industry since most Austrian tourists prefer to spend their holidays around beaches in coastal areas as well to view beauties of nature in the countries they visited.

    He said the country has earned Rs. 13.6 billion by handling foreign airline traffic operating through the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport.

      I think it's all to do with aircraft rotation & pilot training. In the past, ALL, ALM, ALN, have been used to Chennai, Bangalore, Doha, BKK, MLE, etc.

      4R-ALO is scheduled as UL 454 today 26th to NRT

            Is it true Thai Airways to increase daily flights to Colombo? It's Good for Thai because Cathay to quit Bangkok-Colombo route from October.

                    Why do they operate 2 flights to Guangzhou around the same time on the same day?

                      Incorrect, they operate Colombo - Bangkok - Guangzhou on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays, while they operate non-stop Colombo - Guangzhou on Mondays, Thursdays & Saturdays, making Colombo - Guangzhou daily as a result.

                        x = except days
                        e.g. x146 means flight operating except Mon, Thu & Sat

                        I feel SriLankan could be able to expand more flights if they've properly planned the flight schedule and fleet-utilization.
