The Speaker of the Sri Lankan parliament Chamal Rajapaksa says that the new international airport that is being built in Mattala in the Hambanthota District of Sri Lanka's Southern Province will open 1,500 direct and 50,000 indirect job opportunities.

Under the latest revision of Sri Lanka - UK bilateral, SriLankan has received seven extra rights to UK, while at the same time receiving 5th freedom rights for a daily flight between UK and Canada. (Source : Kflyer)

SriLankan is now waiting for a Sri Lanka - Canada Air-bileteral agreement is to be signed, which is currently on the discussion between Sri Lanka - Canada Authorities.

@ uwe1994 - SriLankan says Colombo - London - Toronto (YYZ) route will commence within 2011. I will post here when I get more information.
