Banu,
Based on the above table UL are wet/dry leasing the three oldest A333 to PK.
Are all the 4 remaining A333s the 242T HGW version?Comment

As per http://www.srilankan.com/en/flying-with-us/fleet 4R-ALO/P/Q/R are the 242t MTOW version. I'm glad that these are the ones that'll stay in the fleet.Comment

Good news indeed, if accurate.
And the lower MTOW version makes sense for PK, as their mission block time is going to be just under 8 hrs.Comment

Mihin Lanka to disappear?
The government of Sri Lanka has extended the deadline for foreign entities to submit their Expressions of Interest (EOI) for SriLankan Airlines (UL, Colombo Int'l) and Mihin Lanka (MJ, Colombo Int'l) from August 24, to August 31.
In a statement, the government said the week-long extension had been brought about following a request from four interested firms. The firms said their internal policy decision-making processes did not allow them enough time to make the original submission date.
”We extended the EOIs’ closing date till end of this month. By about end of September to October we’ll be collecting the EOIs. Once we go through them, we aim to have serious discussions with the potential partners by January next year,” Eran Wickramaratne, Deputy Minister Public Enterprise Development, told the Business Times.
Each submission must be accompanied by a non-refundable deposit of USD5,000. BNP Paribas and KPMG have been appointed financial and transaction advisers.
Despite previous denials to the contrary, government has now said it will proceed with the merger of Mihin Lanka into SriLankan Airlines later this year.
Public Enterprises Development Minister Kabir Hashim told The Daily News last month that despite the two carriers' differing philosophies - one a traditional full-service national carrier with the other a hybrid LCC - the merger would have to occur in order to cut down soaring costs.
Mihin Lanka's route allocations will also compliment SriLankan's new business plan which is geared towards regional expansion as opposed to longhaul growth.
“Mihin Lanka has some important routes like to Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta and Dhaka, Bangladesh and we want to retain them," he said. "We will ask SriLankan Airlines to service these routes after the merger.”
Mihin Lanka operates one A319-100, one A320-200, and two A321-200s on regular flights to fourteen destinations in eight other countries including: Bahrain, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Seychelles, Maldives, and Oman.

Runway maintenance is from Jan 2017 to Apr 2017. Why do they have to reduced the CAN flights from Nov 2016? I think it's a permanent move due to shortage of aircraft.
Another bad news ! Mihin Lanka is operating last flight to Lahore on 19-Sep ! I think SriLankan should take over the Lahore from Mihin Lanka. I heard from reliable sources Mihin Lanka have average 95% pax load on Colombo-Lahore-Colombo route.Comment

What the hell is going on here. RIP Srilankan. That's all I could say. I've switched to other carriers (except india).Runway maintenance is from Jan 2017 to Apr 2017. Why do they have to reduced the CAN flights from Nov 2016? I think it's a permanent move due to shortage of aircraft.

wants to be a regional airline and expand flights to asian destinations and then cuts down existing profitable regional and asian routes
Current UL management for you. At this rate Druk Air, Maldivian and Nepal Airlines will be larger carriers than UL.Comment

At the current pace of cutting off revenue streams there might not be a UL for much longer. You notice how they keep getting rid of aircraft and axing routes but not a single politically appointed muppet has been shown the door yet. Corruption from the previous regime and lack of backbone from the current one will continue to sink this airline.
On another front Cramer and his little band of rebels continue to give management the finger:
Only in Sri Lanka would idiots like this not be terminated immediately. I'm just happy that some FAs are atleast trying to kick these fools out.Last edited by TheF15Ace; 13-08-2016, 08:17 PM.Comment

Turkish Airlines, Hainan Airlines, ANA and Garuda are interested in managing SriLankan Airlines
Turkish Airlines and Garuda interested in SriLankan Airlines

Four airlines – Turkish Airlines, Hainan – China’s largest privately-owned air transport firm, Japan’s ANA and Indonesia’s Garuda Airlines – have shown interest in crisis-hit SriLankan Airlines which is looking for a partner, official source said. They also said BNP Paribas and KPMG appointed as transaction advisors in Sri Lankan Airlines’ quest to find a strategic partner have tapped a number of foreign airlines in creating an ‘appetite’ towards a partnership with the debt-ridden national carrier. ”The two agencies solicited certain parties by discussing with certain airlines in their data base/airlines that they work with,” a top official close to the restructuring of the national carrier told the Business Times.
He added that as both parties have international presence, they tapped these airlines to send in their Expressions of Interest (EOI). “They did their own solicitations and some were successful,” he said. NSB Fund Management (NSBFM), a unit of state-run National Saving Bank (NSB) and the lead managers to airline’s restructuring drive, said that while there’re eight EOI confirmed for the national carrier, two more are being finalised.NSB Chairman Asvin de Silva told the Business Times that a project management team under NSBFM has already received eight EOI and two are still being worked out.
The EOI timeline for the ‘reorientation’ of SriLankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka has been extended by a week until August 31, as the ‘appetite’ for the EOI was encouraging, he said. ”We extended the EOI closing date till end of this month. By about end of September we’ll be collecting the EOIs. Once we go through them, we aim to shortlist the EOI and call the shortlisted parties to submit proposals,” he said adding after this they will get these parties to carry out a due diligence on the airline.
