Looks like there's one set of figures for the people of Sri Lanka and another set of figures for everyone else....

    $115 Million vs $170 Million.

Zero transparency and no investigation - who knows what the real costs are?

I'll bet it's more than what has been revealed publicly - my guess is this is why no annual report has been issued.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

Each minister seems to have his own set of figures and facts and unfortunately when they decide to tell the foriegn media also unverified facts or some garbage that might make them look good locally, the credibility of SL becomes a laughing stock internationally.

The Volkswagon debacle and the recent news that they in talks to offer Trinco, which India swiftly denied makes the country look bad, but the people who are governing us don't give a hoot about it.....

SriLankan Airlines most punctual among oneworld airlines in 4th quarter 2016

Sri Lanka's national carrier SriLankan Airlines (www.srilankan.com) has further enhanced its reputation as one of the most punctual airlines in the world, by being rated as the most on-time member airline of the oneworld global airline alliance in the fourth quarter of 2016, by the global flight data monitoring firm OAG.

Not hard to be the most punctual airline in oneworld, when you are also the SMALLEST airline in oneworld

              First full, flight to Mattala

Mattala airport may not be lonely, after all. On Friday, budget carrier FlyDubai, the only foreign airline to use this southern airport, flew in a full complement of passengers – 108 – for a special occasion.

The group from Dubai was attending a wedding reception at the Shangri-La Hambantota Resort and Spa. According to FlyDubai local agent, Jetwing Travels Director Sunil Peiris, this is the first direct flight to Mattala from any part of the world. “Mattala was also a stopover en route to Colombo. However on Friday the flight from Dubai was only to Mattala and an additional flight from FlyDubai’s 4-times-daily flight to Colombo,” he said.

The airline will similarly operate a special charter next week for the group to return to Dubai.

And it didn't have it's engine runs nor other tests scheduled which are usually done prior First Flight.

Should be imminent though, so let's see what next week brings.
Why there is a delay in fitting engines for MSN7486 ? I can notice that EIS of MSN7486 has been postponed from 2 Feb to 2 Mar 2017.

Mr. Rajapaksa Pay the State Bill Before Gibbering Against the Government!

The former regime headed by Mahinda Rajapaksa has evaded payment of around Rs. 113.5 million to the national carrier – Sri Lankan airlines, reports say.

The pending amount includes payments for leased flights and air tickets, reports add.

The tours which had taken place in this manner include several made by the former President and his entourage in December 2014.

It also includes the reservation of a flight to Seychelles via Maldives on 2014-07-12 under the invoice number 11938. However, sources say that no details have been given on who had gone on the flight.

At the present, Sri Lankan airlines had handed over a report detailing such tours with pending payments, to the President and Prime minister.

It is said that legal action is to be taken soon on this regard.
