    +1.

    1. Do somebody have contacts with SriLankan MoCA (Ministry of Civil Aviation) and could confirm whether they applied for flying rights in CMB-IXM sector?

    2. Or any contacts in Colombo airport that could confirm whether SpiceJet approached the Airport Director/Controller for filing schedule or slots?

(We confirmed the procedure of an airline procuring flying rights using a media report in the last passage of the report in the below link :

Most routes can be made profitable if a proper fleet management-route structuring-crew paring is studied. Inchon will be a good move with many srilankans migrating for work to Korea. How well UL will handle the route is a "wait and see". On some "previously lucrative routes" UL is now losing money. Fingers crossed and hope for the best! Remember full house does not necessarily mean high yields

Currently the news going around is that UL will get an injection from the treasury. MJ is also latching on to UL for survival..no other choice with the CEO running massive bills on chosen luxuries MJ is also deeply in debt to various organizations. At one time (not sure if its still so) pilots had to carry cash for fuel etc as nobody was giving credit to MJ. In this scenario MJ too needs that injection to get another aircraft. Adding destinations is a good thing provided they have the resources to cope with the expansion of routes.

Sri Lanka Airlines adds another A320 to fleet

State-run SriLankan Airlines said it had taken delivery of an Airbus A320 increasing the type to eight aircraft and the fleet to 21 and two floatplanes for domestic services.
The new A320 will set 20 business class passengers and 120 in economy class. It has a video and audio on demand flight entertainment services with nine television channels and 15 audio channels.

The airline said it was upgrading its long-haul fleet with flat-bed seat and flight entertainment systems.

                  SriLankan scores high on punctuality

SriLankan Airlines first quarter (Jan-March) punctuality record reveals an impressive high average, exceeding the airline’s punctuality benchmarks for all flights departing Colombo and destinations in the entire network.

The punctuality average maintained for flights departing Colombo within 15 minutes of the scheduled time has been 89 per cent, surpassing the airline’s benchmark of 85 per cent with the month of March achieving a percentage as high as 92. Punctuality for flights departing Colombo within 3 minutes of the scheduled time is 73 per cent, exceeding again, the airline’s benchmark of 70 per cent.

well, seriously, if there are enough STOL runways, I see no reason for seaplanes in Sri Lanka, other than for novelty factor.

Knowing the load factors (a friend flew to Weligama - he was the sole pax, on departure, 2 pax got out, and on arrival, he was met by 2 pax - makes sense to kill it off I guess

or put back the wheels and fly the Twotter in it's natural land based guise ..
As per http://www.dailynews.lk/2012/05/31/fea02.asp - SriLankan plans to do away with the water-only float planes which it currently operates as air taxis and to replace them with fully amphibious aircraft. This will enable them to take off and land from both water bodies and from conventional runways.

Lot of confusing news coming out on AirTaxi operation specifically with opening of the Dandugam Oya lading site. On paper, the contract between UL and KB ends in August and no renewal signed as of yet. KB will try to get business back with UL or any other operator in Sri Lanka.

Tiger Airways is giving the false statement in the news saying that they are the first LCC to fly the Singapore-Colombo. I hope you guys are still remember Mihin Lanka flew LCC flights to Singapore few years back.
