Airbus halts some deliveries, tests after engine snag

Airbus () has stopped delivering A320neo jets powered by Pratt & Whitneys () geared turbofan engines and halted pre-delivery test flights after the latest technical hitch to affect the supplier, two sources familiar with the matter said.

A European safety bulletin, effectively grounding aircraft that have already been delivered with two engines from the same suspect batch, affects about 15-20 aircraft already in service,, they said.

Airbus has briefed airlines and leasing companies on the problem and cannot yet say how long it will take to resolve, one of the sources told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

An Airbus spokesman said the planemaker is in discussions with customers about delivery schedules.

It won't, as ANF is powered by CFM LEAP 1A-26 engines. The problem is occuring with P&W engines.

First batch of stats for UL's Melbourne flight are out -

For the month of November 2017 -

* The inbound UL604 flight carried 6,368 passengers out of an available seat capacity of 8,490 - this represents a load factor of 75%.

Total freight carried was 229.3 tonnes or roughly 7.65 tonnes of freight per day.

* The outbound UL605 flight carried 6,213 passengers out of an available seat capacity of 8,490 - this represents a load factor of 73.2%

Total freight carried was 230.2 tonnes or roughly 7.65 tonnes of freight per day.

From December 2017 onwards - expect available seat capacity to decrease slightly, as the A330-200s were in operation completely, as opposed to the A330-300 being subbed in for the first week of November.

Are there any A340's that fly into colombo anymore? I know Qatar used to do its Colombo-Doha route on A340-600 as I have been on it but i haven't seen any for a while. Did they stop using them?

Saudia Connects Medina to Colombo

Saudia has begun its direct service from Colombo (CMB) to Medina (MED) on their Boeing 77W

QR is currently operating B773ER and A320 on the Colombo route but according to QR website A346 is in operation next week. Edelweiss Air of Switzerland is going to operate A343 to Colombo from Nov 2018.
