Hi Umedha, According to wiki, SQ is going to replace both B772 & A333 with A350 & B78K from 2019. Currently SQ is flying A333 on the Colombo route. Which aircraft type would be operated by SQ on the Colombo route from 2019?

        Hi Banu I prefer 350 over 787 😎

I suspect they would use the 787-10; the 359 on a short hop might not make sense.

MSN8106 (Test Rego : D-AVZG) will become 4R-ANF. Still it hasn't done any test flights but as per previous news the delivery was planned for first quarter of 2018.

Govt. ends search for foreign partner for Srilankan

The Government has decided to stop looking for a foreign partner for the national carrier SriLankan Airlines, informed sources said.

Accordingly, sources said the new plan is to hand SriLankan over to a local public-private venture.

This decision had been reached after listening to the views expressed by trade unions and employees of SriLankan and government advisors.

Newly appointed Minister of State Enterprise Development Lakshman Kiriella is expected to monitor the affairs of the national carrier. (Yohan Perera)

I see Kabir Hashim has quietly left his post. He's an insider so he knows what's coming.

I guess he doesn't want his name attached to the shutdown. Typical Politician who only cares about saving his own skin!

                  Rats leaving the sinking ship!

Still seeing an almost complete news blackout on SriLankan.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

SriLankan is to lease 3 Airbus A330-300 aircraft to Turkish Airlines. Everything has been planned and is ready it seems.

Any reason why does the 3 x A333s are going to be sub-leased again to different airline? hopefully not another controversial deal like the one with PIA.

That means most of the routes they will use A332 or A32x neo air crafts.
In future I will avoid UL now itself it’s not worth flying them like Hkg CX offering flat bed business class UL offering cradle seats Almost same price,
The airlines like Jet or Thai also offering Flat bed with medium range fare.
So UL will have old air crafts for Srilankan passengers instead of good ones

Idiotic levels at UL must be over the roof these days

I know! It's really very absurd minded! We'll just be left over with the ageing old A332s and only a few A333s along with the A320 family aircraft. As I also heard (as I'm not sure), the lease period is 3 years.

Iam not sure Turkish Airlines might need UL A333. Might be Onur Air,
Because Turkish Airlines has enough of A332&A333
If this UL A333 goes to Onur then the usage and Maintaince will be v bad

What I herd from my friend who worked as QA Engineer, the delivery probably happened in May. As per the him they are facing lots of engine related issues in NEOs.
