SriLankan Airlines named world's most punctual

SriLankan Airlines, the flag carrier of the island nation, has been named the 'World's Most Punctual Airline' for the second consecutive time with over 90 per cent of its flights in May being "on time", authorities said here Friday.

SriLankan Airlines said in a statement that it had achieved this status for the second time in less than 12 months as in September 2018, it had achieved a punctuality rating of 91.37 per cent, reports Xinhua news agency.

In May, it achieved a punctuality rating of 90.75 per cent.

SriLankan Airlines said achieving this status in May was impressive due to the challenges caused by heightened security at the airline's hub at the Bandaranaike International Airport in capital Colombo following the April 21 Easter Sunday terror attacks that killed over 250 people.
Global flight tracker, Flightstats analysed data of 41 carriers from Europe, North America, Asia, the Middle East, and South America, including most of the world's largest and most prestigious airlines before drawing its conclusions.

This was actually the first, which was supposed to come here since 2017, but it never came. All of a sudden this one had arrived instead. Let's see, I sent a message to the chairman regarding some details, we'll see what he'll have to tell.

      She's the newbie at Ratmalana.

Yes, UL 460 and UL 461, probably because of less traffic from Male I guess.

I think from 16 Jul, UL is operating only UL460/1.

There is only one YS-11 at the moment, I doubt that there is a second one to join. Probably issues with the leasing the aircraft which is why it did not show up in Sri Lanka since 2017.

Srilankan revises Tokyo Narita Schedule again.

SriLankan Airlines earlier this month once again adjusted service to Japan, effective from July 2019. Previously planned 5th weekly Colombo – Tokyo Narita service from 15JUL19 has been cancelled, and the airline will adjust operational routing from 25JUL19.

From 25JUL19, the oneWorld carrier will operate Colombo – Tokyo Narita – Male – Colombo triangle routing, 4 times a week with Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The airline last operated this routing in April 2012.

Srilankan removes additional proposed flights to London Heathrow this summer.

SriLankan Airlines earlier this month adjusted planned service for Colombo – London Heathrow, where the airline cancelled planned service increase in July and August 2019. Previously planned seasonal service increase as follows.

                            21JUL19 – 31JUL19 8 weekly
                            01AUG19 – 08AUG19 9 weekly
                            09AUG19 – 29AUG19 10 weekly

Between 21JUL19 and 29AUG19, the airline will continue to operate this route 7 weekly, with Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
