SriLankan Airlines’ Airbus deal flouted procurement rules: Auditor General

    https://economynext.com/srilankan-ai...general-31744/
As i've repeatedly stated - this order has nothing to do with the requirements of UL.

This order is all about over $100 Million in Commissions that Corrupt Politicians and their cronies have pocketed.

This is why aircraft were leased at higher than market rates on 12 year leases with no termination clause. This has all been admitted to by Suren Ratwatte.

All of the above increases the value of the deal - increasing the Commissions paid.

This is what needs to be investigated (hopefully it was as part of the one year investigation into UL. I see this report has still not been released to the public). Who received these Commissions?

As for the remaining Airbus A350 - this order is exactly the same as outlined above. They have purchased these at what appears to be full list price (instead of a 40-50% discount given to most clients).

Again this is all Corruption. There are people responsible for this - starting with whoever signed this contract.

They've been trying to change this order for 5 years - still haven't been able to.

The only logical conclusion is that this order has no termination clause or a clause allowing the order to be changed and the people of Sri Lanka will have to pay.

I guess next week Kapila Chandrasena takes over again and we get to listen to his "Sri Lanka Big Talk BS".

Why it's going to be scrapped ? it's only 20 years old airframe. Any chance ALD's seats would be fitted on ALS?

Lease expired. I doubt the seats will be taken for ALS.

Sri Lanka's FitsAir to launch scheduled int'l pax flights

                            18.11.2019 - 08:44 UTC

FitsAir (8D, Colombo Int'l) has conducted a trial flight between Jaffna and Chennai, India on November 7 as a prelude to the regional carrier offering scheduled services from the end of the month.

Following the successful test flight to Chennai, Vice Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services, Priyantha Kariyapperuma told Sri Lankan newspaper Daily Mirror: "The airline will get the licence to operate flights from Jaffna to Chennai soon and will operate flights three times a week.”

FitsAir intends to use its sole ATR72-200, 4R-EXN (msn 373), on the 191-nautical mile (354-kilometre) international sector to India. The carrier made its international passenger service debut after it operated a one-off charter flight between Colombo Ratmalana and Vishakhapatnam in August. It operated its first scheduled service in March, when it began flights between Ratmalana and Batticaloa.

Alliance Air (India) (9I, Mumbai Int'l) is also planning to add the Sri Lankan airport to its scheduled network, after it conducted a one-off charter service in October.

If the lease finished, isn't it going to return back?? Is the owner going to scrap that??

total flying cycles done, so what’s the point of holding a leases agreement (therefore agreement will be finished as soon as when it’s going for scrap). we have done all the agreed changes and going for scrap under the owner’s supervision.
