And Airbus as a multinational company should be deeply embarrassed regarding this revelation.
Airbus clearly knows that UL would purchase Airbus over Boeing on any given time, So seems like the former CEO has done some manipulations and bribery during the business process but whatever said than done airbus shouldn't have been involved.

I feel sorrowful as a humble taxpayer because Firstly, Kapila made a fortune while purchasing the 10 Aircraft. Then his successor had his pockets full during the cancellation of the order. Regimes may come and go people might change but it is us, the ill-treated tax payer who has to bear the brunt of it and pay for someone else fortunes.

I wouldn't mind if a CEO of a lucrative airline does this but this happening to UL is just adding insult to injury which already is in a towering debt and having previous records of corruption.
SriLankan Airlines (SLA) will seek legal advice to ascertain if legal action can be taken against Airbus to win compensation on the lines that prosecutors in the UK did, which resulted in the world’s second-largest airplane manufacturer having to pay a total of $ 4 billion in penalties to the UK, USA and France over claims it paid bribes to win contracts in 20 countries including Sri Lanka. “S ..

I see Mr "MiG Deal" has been arrested.

Of course he's already in the prison hospital. The revolving door of Sri Lankan justice has already started.

He's family so nothing will happen to him - he'll be out and about in no time!

Anyone have any updates on Kaplila - I'm guessing his arrest was all for show.

Well this is just another misery that will simply be buried after sometime.

The blame should be placed more on the previous regime of MS and RW. This culprit has been in custody for months if not years now in Dubai, and the law enforcement authorities simply did not prioritize or take initiatives to arrest and bring him back to be trailed at sri lankan judicary system even though bails were eminent as well.

Even now this is just drama only. people like Udayanga and jaliya are in the circles of the current political regime so the outcome is just imminent. He will be used around as a card for the current diyawanna election and be bailed out once it is over. at the end no one will even notice or care.

Anyway kapila who lived a lavish life making fortunes out of UL, still being behind bars has had me going. that too due to the exception that he was caught red handed by revealing made at a court in UK or else that too will be swept below the carpets.
