No, for maintenance checks. If I'm not mistaken most of the aircraft in the fleet will be flown out of CMB for maintenance in the couple of months.

Now she’s airborne from AUH as UL1203. ABO was parked at Apron C for sometime now. I suspect it’s flying for maintenance purposes. Can someone check on it please.

A SriLankan Airlines Airbus A330-300 was forced to stay on the ground for several days after a rat was spotted on the aircraft while it was flying between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, resulting in a subsequent search of the aircraft for the stowaway animal.

The Airbus A330-300, registered as 4R-ALO, has not flown since it landed at CMB on February 22. SriLankan Airlines’ other A330s have all been active in the past few days, with two exceptions: 4R-ALC and 4R-ALH. The two aircraft have not operated a commercial flight since February 17 and February 25, respectively, an analysis of Flightradar24 data showed.

The Airbus A330-300 has remained on the ground since it returned to Sri Lanka on a flight from Pakistan.

SriLankan Airlines Chairman Ashok Pathirage announced yesterday that fleet expansion of the national carrier remains an immediate focus.

Speaking to the media, he disclosed that the airline has contracted for three A320s, one of which is already received. Additionally, the airline has received offers for six A330s and hopes of finalising these acquisitions by the end of the year.

“The Government procurement processes are time-consuming and the global demand for aircraft is escalating. This has been a significant factor contributing to delays in securing additional aircraft,” Pathirage explained.

With the current fleet consisting of 17 aircraft, of three which are grounded, he underscored the importance of adding wide-body aircraft to the fleet to overcome limitations in servicing long-haul destinations such as the UK, France, and Australia.

“The absence of A330s aircraft poses challenges and acquiring them is essential to address these constraints,” he added.
