UL is going to re-launch JED from 2-Feb next year. Will be 4 weekly flight.
Agreed 100%
Also to add a few more airlines to the list, I honestly missed airlines such as Oman Air, Kuwait Airways & Saudia who have stopped ops to CMB on my recent trip to Saudi Arabia having returned a couple of days ago
Currently UL do not serve JED which is a huge inconvenience specially for Umrah pax. I believe they benefited quite a bit on this sector with pilgrims connecting form CGK, MAA, TRZ and COK when they did operate. Puzzles me why they only serve DMM and RUH now
UL does not seem to care of the pilgrim traffic and with Riyadh Air launching soon, they’d definitely be in on the demand from CMB
In terms of the limited options to connect to JED, Tickets too are horribly expensive - we few FlyDubai as we had a very limited handful of options available (fares kept increasing day by day) FZ’s hard product is highly inconsistent with a mix of Max 8’s and 738’s being flown to and from DXB
8D unfortunately does not have the capacity to serve JED however I did see it somewhere that JED, DMK and KUL were their “focus-destinations” which they’d probably launch once they receive their wide-bodies in the near future
As of now the only glimmer of hope in the Sri Lankan Aviation market right now is FitsAir (they are still in their early stages of growth) - what they have archived to date is noteworthy and with Perter Hill at the helm, they would definitely be a force to recon with in the future

As per below source, A333s from Aergo capital being leased for 8 years.
Only reason I think for the delivery in white as ABS & ALT are going to be painted in OW Livery in Colombo. Correct me if I am wrong?
"ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers have given approval for state-run SriLankan Airlines to acquire four wide body aircraft on operating leases, Minister Bandula Gunawardana has said. The national carrier will lease two aircraft from ORIX Aviation for 6 years at a fee of 360,000 dollars. Another two aircraft will be leased from Aergo Capital Limited for 8 years at a fee of 365,000 dollars, he said. Sri Lankan has contracts of several leased aircraft expire, after legislators blocked the first tender floated to lease aircraft in 2022, around the time the island defaulted on its sovereign bond. Airbus A330-200s will be leased from ORIX and Airbus A330-300s will be leased from Aergo, an airline official said."Comment

From the last update from Arranz, the aircraft still was in VP-CRQ rego. I am concerned why it's still not been registered on aircraft as 4R-ALT.Attached FilesComment

Interior of ABM is not in good shape. USB ports are hanging from the seats and most of them are not working. Interior smells strange as well. I was able to travel in ABM during last May from AUH to CMB. It needs cabin overhaulComment

China Eastern has increased KMG-CMB flights from 2 weekly to 3 weekly, very weird since they plan on terminating the route? hopefully passenger traffics curls up again and they dont terminate the route and re-introduce KMG-CMB-MLE flights.
Guys, does anyone have any updates on the other a330s coming to UL? MSN 1261 and MSN 1037? will they be getting delivered by the end of september or at a later date?
Thanks.Sien (KR/SL/US)

I am too curious to find the load factor of MAA-JAF Alliance Air and Indigo flights.
I really wonder why UL hasn't started flights from CMB-JAF. There are plenty of Tamil community in Europe, Australia etc can book flights directly to JAF and transit via CMB. Why still has not been actioned?Comment

Probably because UL does not have a small enough aircraft to operate to JAF, we just have to wait and see since hopefully JAF airport will be getting expanded soon with a longer runway and more facilities, which could mean that UL could deploy an A320. I'm not really sure but we just have to see.

I don't think Sri Lanka is developed enough for domestic air travel, don't get me wrong, The only reason that domestic flights don't really work in SL is because of the price and the undeveloped facilities, since flights can go up to 200USD almost and it just makes sense to take the train rather than fly to JAF. However, if prices reduce in the coming years, from 200 to 100 (round trip) then I believe it would be possible.
