Confirmation that Emirates has retired its last Airbus A330 to leave it with an exclusively Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 fleet means that it will be flying seven short-haul routes from its hub of less than 1,000km distance using two of the biggest widebodies on the market.

Why does Emirates is not interested in operating narrowbody aircraft on short haul routes? Example : Isn't that better idea to operate to 7 or 8 daily onboard narrowbody aircraft instead of three daily flights onboard widebody aircraft for their short haul routes. More flight frequency gives more flexibility to passengers.

EK is one of the successful airline and I'm sure they will have reasons to operate widebody aircraft on short haul but I'm curious to know the reason.

Nice to see an upcoming budget Airline in the Middle East! Lets hope they succeed like G9 and FZ, not forgetting Saudia's subsidiary FlyNas (XY) who's performing quite well. Lets hope to see Salam Air serving CMB in the near future!

Seen how full Dubai is? They are rapidly running out of space. Fly Dubai will leave to Dubai World next year.

No building going on at Dubai World (one runway built out of 6).

Dubai's Debt to GDP was 132% earlier this year - they're in serious trouble.

SriLankan Airlines shouldn't have ordered the A350 in the first place. The A330 is the best widebody for SriLankan's long-haul flights.

Is Iran air still operating their Boeing 747's. And how about their other aircraft's they have a reputation for operating very old aircraft's due to sanctions.

I remember Iran Air was flying one B747SP for passenger flights to KUL & PEK and one B742F for cargo services. It seems to be both their B747s have been stored once they signed contract to get new fleet. But they are still operating the ageing A300s and A310s.

Any sign of their new fleet? Have Iran air took delivery of brand new A321, A332, ATR72 ?
