UL, EK, MH, SQ, recently; GF, TG sometime back..

I have flown only on Air Lanka/SriLankan, Emirates, Indian Airlines, British Airways and Kuwait Airways among these airlines I would rate Air Lanka/SriLankan as the best.

In my trip record I have flown on SriLankan several times I never had a bitter experience as how these people criticize on the Internet.

CMB-LHR-CMB - UL501 A343 2000 - Really Good Enjoyed the ride
I never Felt Turbulence

Same Banu.. Ive Flown UL since i was like 4.. My 1st flight was when i was around 3 or 4 (1985-86) in L1011 from CMB to London not sure if it was Gatwick or LHR and back via DXB.
Then several times CMB-DHA (till they moved the airport to DMM) in L1011s, A332/A343s (when my dad used to work in KSA).. However i was not fully impressed with ULs Crew Passenger service on the Middle east sector compared to other routes. Possibly they might have thought all Pax in the flight are poor laborers going to the middle-east.(still its not good treat them differently). I am happy to say that i have flown in all the older fleet in A343 ( ADA,ADB,ADC) and Almost all the prev A332s (ALA,ALB,ALC,ALD,as well as ALE, & ALF which are in heaven). Haven't had a time to fly on ADD,ADE,ADF & ADG as well as ALG,ALH & ALJ thats coz im in AKL :S.
However ULs other routes ive flown were good. CMB-SIN/ CMB-KUL-SIN. Still i prefer to fly UL

When did S7 Airlines start serving CMB ?

Yes, crew should be treating all pax as the same. But I think Middle east sector is a difficult one for crew members to serve. You would have seen this sector transporting passengers who from all sort of back grounds. Majority of the travellers are labour market, some VFR, some Passngers who travel on onward connections and a few Business traffic.

When I fly on UL227 few years ago on the CMB-KWI via DXB, me and dad were sitting on economy class and my flight fully loaded with labourers (Srilankans and South Indians). In the start Cabin crew was very kind to all passengers. Few hours after these labour passengers have started behaving clumsy in the sense : dropping drinks on the floor, talking loud, demanding for food to the crew member even after they served.. In the middle of the flight it was like a road-bus. I understood from cabin crew's face they already tired of serving these people. Our flight touched down in DXB and it was off-loading DXB passengers and loading passengers from DXB before head to KWI. There were two racist arab men came on board at DXB. Those men were making fun out of our UL cabin crew and on the co-passengers. But the cabin crew remained calm and they kindly served the passengers.

Since then, when I fly on UL/KU to KWI , I always book on Business class.

From what i have seen, serving the passengers in the Middle east sector is so difficult for crew members it's not like Europe sector and Pakistan sector. I have seen Europe and Pakistan passengers are bit descent.

Oneworld alliance members currently operating to Colombo are Royal Jordanian, Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines and Finnair (seasonal basis). British Airways will commence Colombo operation on 14-Apr-2013. SriLankan Airlines and Qatar Airways are the present airline-operators out of Colombo may join the Oneworld by the end of 2013.

Air Berlin, American Airlines, and JAL Japan Airlines have codeshare operations out of Colombo. but Qantas??

S7 Airlines never operated a revenue passenger operation to Colombo however they send aircraft to Colombo to do a maintanance.
