How many times A380 landed in Colombo? any more pics?

Yes Male has quite a bit of aircraft parked at peak times. At one point there were 2 Emirates 777's. This is 4R-ALJ, UL116. To Male i flew on 4R-ADF.
The flight to Male UL101 was full, lots of Chinese tourists. Return flight was only half full.

Few years ago TG retired the A340-500s as well. Does TG own these A340-600s? What's going to happen with these TG's A340-600s after retirement?

BANGKOK: -- Thai Airways accelerated planned retirement of its A340-600 fleet to 28 March 2015 with the aircraft no longer appearing in the schedule from the following day, as per a 16-Feb-2015 GDS inventory and timetable display .

The following services are affected:

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi-Frankfurt: Three class 376-seat Boeing 747-400 to replace three class 267-seat A340-600 equipment on six of 13 weekly frequencies, resulting in 654 additional one-way seats each week;

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi-Zurich: Two class 364-seat 777-300 to replace three class 267-seat A340-600 equipment on seven weekly frequencies, resulting in 679 additional one-way seats each week.

Thai also operates A340 equipment on some regional services from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi to Singapore, Hong Kong and Delhi. According to the CAPA Fleet Database, Thai Airways currently operates six A340-600 aircraft with an average age of 9.0 years.

The Airbus A340 is a long-range four-engine wide-body commercial passenger jet airliner. It was developed and produced by Airbus. The A340 was assembled at Toulouse, France.

It seats up to 375 passengers in the standard variants and 440 in the stretched -600 series. Depending on the model, it has a range of between 6,700 to 9,000 nautical miles (12,400 to 16,700 km).

It is similar in design to the twin-engined A330 with which it was concurrently designed. Its distinguishing features are four high-bypass turbofan engines and three-bogie main landing gear.

The A345s were bought to compete with SQ I believe, but the route flopped, as did SQ's - SQ had to reconfigure the seats to all-Business Class. Most likely they may find use in other airlines who are using the 340-600s profitably ..

SQ still holds the record for the world's longest non-stop flight, with their SIN-LAX and SIN-EWR flights, now withdrawn !

It was a frequent visitor to SIN, and will be missed ..

It's all about economics I guess .. though the 340-600 did last longer than the average 340-500, in service

Chine Eastern has announced that the last flight of A340-600 going to be end of April 2015. If I am not mistaken China Eastern is currently operating A340-600 only on PVG-SIN as well as NRT, TPE and domestic flights.. Between March 30 and June 15, Virgin Atlantic plans to use A340-600s on the route prior to deploying new B787-9s. Last flight of VS A340-300 operating on 29 March 2015. It looks like Lufthansa, Iberia and Etihad Airways are operating A340-600 profitably. Not sure other operators like SAA, Virgin Atlantic are happy with the long bus A340-600.

A340-600 current operators are: SA,EY,QR,VS,IB,LH,TG,MU. TG and MU you will get rid of them soon. The rest seem to be happy with theirs. SA operates them on ULR from JNB to USA. LH and IB to use them on LRs. Drinks too much fuel.
