Hope the passengers and crew are safe? Is this aircraft currently grounded at CMB? Any updates?

SLAF SMR-311 Beechcraft 200 Proline. It's still using the original HEX from the transponder hence why its still showing a US rego.

Today, for the first time, doing what I love made me feel like a criminal. ✈️📸 At around 6AM, my friend mike and I headed to the 18th Mile Post Davendra Mendis PUBLIC ground to capture the departure of the Dassault Rafales that arrived yesterday , something any aviation enthusiast would understand the excitement for. A few photos later, a police jeep arrived as someone had called 119 and reported us. Our cameras were confiscated, statements were taken, explained that we’re plane spotters… not terrorists, spending almost 5hrs at the station. Funny how carrying a DSLR and being passionate about aviation can suddenly make you look like a threat instead of just an enthusiast 🙃 As someone who genuinely loves aviation and plane spotting, this was honestly discouraging. What’s meant to be a passion and hobby ended up feeling like an interrogation. After running on barely 3 hours of sleep, no breakfast, and spending hours at the station, I honestly started questioning whether this hobby is worth the stress anymore. Trying to explain plane spotting to people who only saw “someone photographing aircraft” felt pointless. What hurt the most was realizing how misunderstood this community still is here. Aviation photography is appreciated around the world, yet here we are being treated like a national threat for capturing airplanes taking off. We were advised not to photograph aircraft without official approval from relevant authorities in this PUBLIC GROUND which is apparently in a HIGH SECURITY ZONE… so maybe this is where the lens goes quiet for a while.🙂 For now, I’ve decided to step away from plane spotting until things become clearer regarding official permissions and regulations. Never thought a passion that brought me peace would one day make me question whether to continue at all. To everyone in the aviation community — keep your heads up and stay safe. Sad to see a passion built around admiration for aircraft being misunderstood so easily nowadays. Malin380jey out.🫳🏾🎤 PS — I’m okay, guys ❣️ The police officers returned my camera and I’m home safe. They were simply doing their duty after receiving a 119 call, and I understand that. I penned this down to raise awareness about aviation photography/plane spotting — a hobby that’s still often misunderstood and viewed with SUSPICION . This isn’t about blame, but about the need for clearer awareness, proper systems, and a modern understanding of what this community actually is.
