It could be true, there are quite a lot of wild life going on around the Mattala HRI. Unfortunately Bird strike is common issue which is still affecting other major airports like New York JFK, Chicago ORD, Calgary YYC etc ... However Sri Lanka Airport Authorities has to take action to prevent bird strikes happening at Mattala HRI for the safety reasons.

I have seen many times foxes delay the LHR's arrivals and departures.

40 Passengers in 287 seater A330 [4R-ALD] is a very low demand. SriLankan has to downgrade the capacity of the flight to A320.

We only know the load factors of just one flight.

Capacity planning is not done on a single piece of anecdotal evidence, but by trend analysis based on a wide spectrum of data spanning over a long period of time.

+1 and for example you make it a 320, and your inventory planning and all has to switch over as well

The question is does the pilot lied or was he asked to lie or was it really a hailstorm...end of the day there is a broken windshield

                Factors favoring hail
Hail is most common within continental interiors of the mid-latitudes, as hail formation is considerably more likely when the freezing level is below the altitude of 11,000 feet (3,400 m).[14] Movement of dry air into strong thunderstorms over continents can increase the frequency of hail by promoting evaporational cooling which lowers the freezing level of thunderstorm clouds giving hail a larger volume to grow in. Accordingly, hail is less common in the tropics despite a much higher frequency of thunderstorms than in the mid-latitudes because the atmosphere over the tropics tends to be warmer over a much greater depth. Hail in the tropics occurs mainly at higher elevations.[15]
Hail growth becomes vanishingly small when air temperatures fall below −30 °C (−22 °F) as supercooled water droplets become rare at these temperatures.[14] Around thunderstorms, hail is most likely within the cloud at elevations above 20,000 feet (6,100 m). Between 10,000 feet (3,000 m) and 20,000 feet (6,100 m), 60 percent of hail is still within the thunderstorm, though 40 percent now lies within the clear air under the anvil. Below 10,000 feet (3,000 m), hail is equally distributed in and around a thunderstorm to a distance of 2 nautical miles (3.7 km).[16]

                Finally:
Looking at the damage/pictures closely; someone can come to a conclusion that There could be a single bird strike but never a single hail from a hailstorm. Damage looks like in a single windshield at (Port Side)...I may be wrong on this

Any updates regarding increase in frequency for Madurai? Heard they might increase from 3x to 4x and extra service will be on Sundays.

This is the problem with the media in Sri Lanka. It is corrupt, driven by greed, political allegiances and pathetic short term goals. LNW, LeN, LankaMirror, SundayLeader etc are a trash news outlets that spew filth, hate and venom against the country (collectively) that the likes of Channel 4 would be jealous.

I do not have a problem with being anti-MR. But the pathetic short sighted culture in SL means these morons can't separate out issues. They cannot separate the country and its national interests from the Government and the political parties. Anything is "fair game" in getting ones way, these people could not care less if the country disintegrated next week (or war continued for another 2 decades) if it means "getting at" MR and solving vendettas today. So called "free" and "independent" media like this (and various other selfish groups, peoples, parties and NGOs) have done more damage and harm to Sri Lanka than any foreign group has. The consequences of which will be felt for decades, all because of the short sighted goals and objectives.

                    Anti-MR: thats great.
                    Anti- SL: that is unacceptable.

These people want everything in Sri Lanka to fail and end in misery, they wanted the LTTE to win, they want economic collapse and are very gleeful looking at the possibility of economic sanctions, and why? Just because they have disdain for MR. I have disdain for him too and the way things are heading. But that does not mean I want Sri Lanka to suffer just to “get at” him.

We cannot rule out the pilot being ordered to lie. Nor can we rule out the fact that LNW (the source of this bird story in question) is also lying. Considering LNWs track record I am inclined to believe the pilot is not lying and LNW has spread bs as usual. This is what happens when you have an untrustworthy media driven by greed and selfish short sighted goals. These people have no principles or integrity but go around pretending they do and deserve some kind of special treatment in society “just because they are journalists”. Media freedom and reporting comes with RESPONSIBILITY.

Yes, Mihin Lanka has temporarily cancelled the Saturday flight to TRZ but the Saturday flight is back to operation from 4-May.

SriLankan also will retore the Daily UL125/126 to Chennai from 1-June.

Mihin Lanka has cancelled the flights to Delhi from 13-April so there are possibilities they will increase the frequencies of the existing flights or they may add new destination/s.
