Is it true? Wondering why it's not announced on the Oneworld Website.

Yes - not yet, but I saw they tweeted congratulating UL. https://twitter.com/traveloneworld/s...74977478475776

Despite all the politics and financial issue, this is one good move by UL and hopefully they will make a use of joining the alliance effectively.

OK - question time guys......Will UL drop some code-share routes with StarAliance and Skyteam members such as AC and Saudi Arabian? Also Air India is planning to join Star middle of next year.

UL will bring two new destinations on to oneworld's network -- Sri Lanka's new Hambantota International airport and India's Tiruchirapalli.
It's not good enough! What is the advantage of adding UL to Oneworld?

i assume, at start, not all possible routes are given to the oneworld network, i think its a gradual contribution of routes to the oneworld network.

In my opinion, the whole point Oneworld is adding SriLankan as a partner to boost in the India and the Maldives market via Colombo. I think SriLankan / Mihin Lanka have to restructure their Flight Network when Mihin Lanka shift to Mattala. So Mihin's destinations like Seychelles can be operated by SriLankan when Mihin focus on regional destinations like Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Trichy, Dubai, Sharjah, Male and etc.. out of Mattala.

I heard Mihin going to cancel operating Colombo-Dubai service and increase Colombo-Sharjah service from two to six weekly in S14. Not sure it's a good move.

Not only Mihin, Starting May even UL will move to Sharjah due to Dubai runaway maintenance.

As far as i know, MJ not going to serve DXB even after maintanance work completed. It's going to leave UL & EK in CMB-DXB route.
