SriLankan Airlines made aviation history by embarking on the longest flight by flying the Commonwealth bid team to St. Kitts from Colombo. The journey with a two-hour technical stop over in London was 23 hours.

The pilots have had to undergo special training to land the flight since the runway in St. Kitts was small.

“The aircraft also flew nearly ten hours over the Atlantic ocean”

I thought 10 hours of flying is pretty normal .. and on a A343, it is not life threatening

AF and others do 10 hour plus sectors from Europe to South American flights on A 332/A 333 or 777s

Sir Lankan flies four or five times a week from Paris, Frankfurt, Rome, Milan and Zurich. Wickremasinghe said: “We aim to go daily from all of them, but the UK is more important than any other European destination.
                  This Sounds very Good.

I see lot of news on fleet refurb but no clear news on upgrade to economy class? Is it being upgraded too to have a newer AVOD and seats?

Any idea of MSN of 4R-ALH that they plan to lease in December this year ?

SriLankan Airlines said that six of the new aircraft they plan to acquire by April 2012 will have CFM engines, instead of the IAE V2500 engines that SriLankan’s current A320 aircraft use : http://www.thesundayleader.lk/2011/1...e-cfm-engines/

Hainan started their operations to MLE effective 1nov. Does anyone know what really happen to their CMB operations. Hainan staff in CMB were saying due to commercial issues on their BJS/BKK sector which was the 1st leg of the flight. Guess CMB was not commercially viable?
