^^ Thanks Banuthev. Have you planned to visit Madurai in July? I recommend you to add Madurai airport (Madurai is well connected to Chennai by around 8 flights per day, so it is recommended to come to Madurai via Chennai in any of the flights) also to your visiting places when you visit Madurai. Have a look and write a review of the facilities in a existing thread or a new thread in AirSrilanka forum if possible.

I have plans to visit Madurai in August if direct flight start between IXM-CMB by that time. Do you know when Spicejet will open the flight booking for IXM-CMB ?

Any idea why UL is operating ZRH flights via DOH ? Do we have local traffic rights from DOH-ZRH ?

UL does not have traffic rights on DOH-ZRH sector, as far as I know. The reason why they are operating ZRH flights via a middle eastern city is pretty obvious. The load factor of this flights is not even 50%, and UL is squeezing in the passengers flying to DOH & ZRH into a single flight.

Not sure Banuthev. We thought SpiceJet will start the service but we don't know what is causing the delay.

We guess some approvals are waiting in the Srilankan DGCA desk for clearance (though Q400 aircraft shortage is also there).

This has happened on other routes too, noticeably on LHR to CMB, when the flight has made a stop over in Doha and even Dubai too, probably due to low pax count on some original flights.

If I paid for the luxury of a direct flight and it turned out to be anything but, I would be very pissed off (sans medicalemergencies etc).

Flightglobal has an article on "Celebrating 60 years of Jet Age"

The most fascinating fact for us is, the BOAC's second destination for initial "jet" flights with Comet was Colombo after JNB. SIN,Tokyo started after CMB.
