May be UL has re-configured this aircraft to use it on Indian market where they have more demand for economy class. @Sakith - Do you know what is the new seat config of 4R-ABM? Are they planning to reconfigure rest of the new A320s (ABN, ABO, ABP) in the fleet?

SriLankan to turn profitable by 2017/18

SriLankan Airlines under a new business model will make a turn around and start earning profits from the 2017/18 financial year, said it’s Chairman, Ajith Dias.

Speaking to Daily News business at the Sancharaka Udawa exhibition at BMICH which ended on Saturday he said that under their new financial plan they are looking at reducing costs during the 2015/16 financial year. “During 2016/17 we hope to break even and record profits the next year. “I only took over this debt ridden institution in February 12, and after closely studying the performance of the airlines we will be launching a new business model in three weeks. This model would be for three years.”

He said that under this program all sectors of the airline would be reviewed and loss making sectors would be re looked at closely. “This program would also look at adopting a new professional business culture that would work to a common agenda leading towards profits.”

                  More Air Connectivity to Kerala?

Sri Lanka & Kerala are to collaborate in the tourism sector. In addition to developing existing tourist locations, the move would also seek to enhance the flow of tourists to the two destinations.

A team led by minister A P Anilkumar is to meet Sri Lankan tourism minister Naveen Dissanayake in the coming two days. A road show of Kerala tourism would also be held at Colombo in a day. Malayala Manorama had earlier published a story on the advances made by Lankan tourism and a brainstorming session that followed the story here suggested closer ties with Sri Lanka for mutual development.

While initial official-level talks were initiated with Sri Lankan authorities during the Berlin tourism festival, Kerala received invitation from Sri Lanka for discussions at the ministerial level later. Since Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi have visa-on-arrival facility, tourists from Lanka can easily visit the state. Discussions would also revolve around developing such facilities in future.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who visited Kerala a day earlier said that his nation was ready to cooperate with Kerala in the tourism sector. It is in this background that ministerial talks are expected to be more effective.

The Kerala tourism department is also planning to forge alliances with Sri Lanka to create a tourism circuit.

                    Not sure what's worse:-

Somebody actually saying this with a straight face

                    or

People believing that this is even remotely possible. Sounds just like the nonsense coming from Ex CEO Kapila.

UL needs to pay back at least U$ 125 Million in outstanding bills.

They will need at least the same amount to continue operations to the end of the year. Nobody has mentioned where this money is coming from.

Personal opinion:- Looks like an attempt to block any further actions or investigations. The Weliamuna report is just the tip of the iceberg.

The Weliamuna report gives a far better indication of the financial state of the Airline. Unfortunate that so few people appear to have read or understood it.

I have seen UL Aircraft in KTM on BBC News while ago among aircraft bringing relief and support. Anybody has any idea on this? I know SLAF C130 is been there.

I see UL869 is delayed. What has happened. Is it technical issue. I see its departure from Colombo arrive at Shanghai on time. The aircraft is 4R-ALG.

What has happened to UL867, it is delayed over 24 hours now. The aircraft has technical difficulty or some sort. The aircraft is 4R-ALG.

The airport website says "delayed until 15:15"

                                More name and shame!

The Airline is riddled with corruption and incompetence from top to bottom. Nobody seems to be concerned....

I can understand that a man like Peter Hill doesn't want to be associated with this mess.
