Total revenue of Sri Lankan Air lines has increased by 9.8 percent in the first quarter of 2015, the state statistics office said.

“Passenger kilometers flown and total revenue of Sri Lankan Air lines has increased by 7.7 percent and 9.8 percent respectively in the first quarter of 2015,” the Department of Census and Statistics said.

In 2014, total revenue increased 5.4 percent to 115.5 billion rupees compared to a 4.6 per cent increase in operating expenditure to 144.4 billion rupees, data from the Central Bank annual report show.

However the airline continued to record an operating loss of 29.0 billion rupees in 2014 compared to 28.6 billion rupees loss recorded in 2013.

SriLankan last made profits in 2008, and has been racking up losses since a management deal with Dubai-based Emirates ended.

Over the past five years both Sri Lankan and Mihin made operational losses of 89.9 billion rupees, according to Central Bank data.

Am i correct 4R -ALD is the only aircraft that got the light weight seat in UL's A332 fleet. Do they have plans to fit light weight seats on rest of the A332s? Wish if they do it.

Austrian Airlines resumes flights in October

Austrian Airlines which had stopped flights to Colombo some seven years ago is to resume flying in October, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) sources said. “We are eagerly looking forward to Austrian Airlines in Colombo in the ensuing winter season starting in September,” a CAA official said. He said that the CAA met Austrian Airlines’ officials during bilateral negotiations last November in Bali and that the negotiations started then.

According to an announcement on the Austrian Airlines website, the once-a-week flight will resume on October 27. The flight from Vienna to Colombo will take about 9 hours and 10 minutes.

All four A332's (4R-ALA/B/C/D) have been fitted with the new light weight seats. This was mentioned here in this forum a while back. The airline completed the entire refurbishment back in April this year if Im not mistaken.
