It seems to be UL & Aercap has already cancelled the lease transaction for the first A350 (must be MSN52) few weeks ago. News says leases for four of these A350s were made with high rates. Looks like UL still hasn't decided yet to cancel the direct orders for four A350s due after 2019. SL gov trying to swallow some of the debt from UL to handover the full UL management to other airline.

Is CX not interested in managing UL?
Management is not free...managment comes with management fees; can UL afford another cost... Investment is another thing...USD 3.2 Billion is not chump change...it is big money...even for developed countries...Provincial Govt of Quebec has still not invested CAD 1 Billion/USD 750 Million on Bombardier...they are still debating...No airline will touch another airline who has such a big debt load...unless considerable about of debt is absorbed by GOSL. To run an airline from ground up you need less than USD 100Million in Capital

Only part which is questionable is; if it is to be privatised who would absorb the loss

I may be wrong on this but for the best of my knowledge the one which was sold was from direct delivery order (I think ST news is bit misleading). Aercap lease still stands...no one want to touch the leased aircrafts...terms are not good on the lease agreement...

MSN52 is undergoing work in the L32 and it will be going for paintwork in 1st week of June. Delivery has to be in Aug or Sep.

Very sad UL is in the hand of bunch of liers and thieves. There are so many stories about UL' A350 on the media. We better wait and see what's going to happen next.

Hi Haleef - Is it true UL is going to start taking delivery of 3 x A350 from end of August this year ? Is UL going to start training the pilots for A350? Any idea about what registration these three A350s to get?

Comments from the spotters indicate it is going to be 4R-XWA through to C. If these planes ever gets delivered to UL and the registrations hold true, then there is some publicity drive from the 2nd 350 for Airbus.

Hi Banu, my father said that we are getting the A350 aircraft, starting from August. Pilots will be going for training too, very soon. Still no idea of the registrations.

SriLankan to cut staff to look pretty for a business partner - Admitting the enterprise is overstaffed, SriLankan Airlines Chairman Ajith Dias affirmed that employee downsizing is definitely on the cards, a move if carried out successfully, would help cut down the airline’s expenditure by a sizable portion. He said the downsizing exercise should be completed by end-September, by when a suitable partner would be picked. - See more at: http://www.dailymirror.lk/109628/Sri....LqpvBSCn.dpuf

First out should be Ajith Dias - followed by Suren Ratwatte and the useless Board of Directors imho

Getting rid of those still employed who are named in Welimuna Commission report should be next followed by appointees of the former government.

Doesn't look like anything will actually happen - just more talk by the look of things.

The only thing I'm 100% sure of is that the people of Sri Lanka will have to pay for the theft, fraud, corruption and incompetence at UL.

Here's irony for you:- I stay in the Sri Lankan owned Marriott Al Jaddaf when I am in Dubai!
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

Hi Rahal, any updates on UL training aircraft technician for A350?
Is 4R-ABL & ABK leaving the fleet this year?

                          Hello...
They haven't started training technicians yet, but our engineers are being trained. Afterall we dont know whether we'll buy A350s

ABK will leave thats right. Although ABL is also scheduled to be returned it's not finalised as yet
                          Cheers

                            Hello Rahal

Do you know if another A320 will be leased to cover the gap left by Bravo Kilo or is this a reduction in fleet size?

                            Thanks

Yes the aircraft in question was 4R-ABQ and as per FR24 it is still in Kochi, after landing back again after 24 minutes prior to takeoff.
