Both UL & Japanese airlines will benefit........

        1) Unlimited service between Tokyo Narita and Sri Lanka from 2013, when annual slots at NRT increases to 270,000. However it is possible to increase service from Summer 2012

        2) Unlimited 5th freedom traffic rights for passenger and cargo service beyond Sri Lanka and Japan, excluding Tokyo Haneda and Narita Airport

        3) Restrictions on codeshare service removed

Also other European based charter flights - Arkefly, Finnair, Jet Airfly .. are terminating the Winter 2012 Operation from Colombo. However Aeroflot and Aersvit are operating to Colombo in Winter 2012 as per current GDS Display.

Narita added to Sri Lanka open skies

Japan and Sri Lanka have agreed to add Narita International Airport to their open skies agreement, according to the transport ministry.

The addition of Narita will take effect in summer 2013, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said Monday.

Signatory countries to open skies agreement are basically obliged to authorize each other's airlines to set the number of flights to the other's airports and open new routes to them without being bound by any curbs.

The deal has made Sri Lanka the 15th economy with which Japan has agreed to add Narita to such an accord.

According to the current "mini open sky agreement" Sri Lanka can operate maximum 5 weekly to NRT. I think UL is looking for Daily flights to NRT with new open skies agreement .. Perhaps NRT has better north-american connections than LHR ..

You can book, but it is not approved yet.

For TR, well, Singapore has no obstacles .. and I would safely say, same goes for Sri Lanka, as Singapore - Sri Lanka is reciprocal rights.
