Yes. SriLankan to connect the UK with the Maldives
SriLankan Airlines will be operating nonstop flights on one-way from London to Male' effective 5-Jan-2017 until 06-Apr-2017. But there are no nonstop flights will be operated by UL from Male' to London. It appears to be the decision has been made since UL can't land aircraft at Colombo between 08:30am and 16:30pm in Jan-Apr 2017 due to runway resurfacing work. At the same time UL have to take off from London at 22:10 since there are no flights allowed to take off at London Heathrow after 23:00 hours. So UL management may have decided to do a stopover in Maldives so UL can take off at London at 22:10 and then land in Colombo on the following day at 16:35 via Maldives , as soon as the scheduled resurfacing work completed for the day.
UL do have freedom rights between London and Male'. In Jan 2017, UL providing cheaper rates on LHR-MLE compared to TK, QR & EK. UL has the lower price £484 and TK has £578 both prices are for one way.

Changing the CEO is the least of the problems - imho.
The very minimum that needs to be done imho:-
Fire 3000 employees.
Fire the entire "Management" team.
Fire the entire useless board.
Fire all the Department heads. Some like HHR belong in prison.
Fire most of the HR/IT/Commercial/Sales department.
End the Theft/Fraud/Corruption/Incompetence/Racketeering.
I don't see any of the above happening. If the GOSL was serious about running things properly they could already have done all the above - you don't need a partner to do this.
The fact that nothing has happened tells me all I need to know. No Action - Talk Only.
Not sure why people believe anything GOSL Ministers or UL Management say - these people have zero credibility.
What is being presented is a wildly optimistic outlook imho.
No shortage of Big Talk in Sri Lanka - that's all these people can do.
The correct course of action is to close this down ASAP - it's a lost cause imho.Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this businessComment

Sri Lanka to set up independent body to probe aircraft accidents
The Sri Lankan Cabinet, today, granted approval to set up an independent institution to investigate aircraft accidents.
Media Minister Gayantha Karunathilleke told reporters that the objective of the bureau would be to improve the security of aviation services, prevent possible accidents in the future, and make recommendations for the improvement of aviation services by identifying factors for such incidents.
"According to the Civil Aviation Act No. 14 of 2010, the power to investigate aircraft accidents occurring within the Sri Lankan territory is vested with the Civil Aviation Authority," Karunathilleke said.
Therefore, Karunathilleke said, the proposal by Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation,Nimal Siripala de Silva to draft legislation to establish the Independent Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers.
