SriLankan Airlines will have to slash a massive 620 flights off its schedule to accommodate the daytime renovation of the airport runway after agencies overrode the carrier’s request for construction to be shifted to night hours.

Somebody should ask Suren Ratwatte where the annual report is - still nothing.SriLankan to go regional. One error in story; it was A330s that were leased to PIA.
Namini Wijedasa extensive interview with the debt ridden national carrier's CEO In a marked departure from the previous management’s business strategy
In a marked departure from the previous management’s business strategy for the national carrier, SriLankan Airlines will focus on becoming a regional carrier flying mostly narrow-bodied aircraft, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Suren Ratwatte said.
He also admitted that finding capital to run the airline was his biggest headache; that arrangements have been made for a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for staff; and that SriLankan’s credit rating (defined as an estimate of the ability of a person or organisation to fulfil their financial commitments, based on previous dealings) was “not very good”.
Mr. Ratwatte declined from the outset to discuss financial issues covered by non-disclosure agreements. Therefore, he would not–despite being pressed–reveal how much was paid to abrogate leases on three A350s ordered by the previous Government.
My guess is that the financial picture is much worse than what is publicly being admitted and they don't want this getting out.
The only question I have after reading this article is: Why is this Airline still operating?Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this businessComment

A suggestion could be to indeed operate from MRIA where Sri Lankan could base a few of their Airbus A320-200's operate Short Haul flights from for example those to Chennai,Bangalore,Trichy, Trivandrum,Cochin and Male.SriLankan Airlines will have to slash a massive 620 flights off its schedule to accommodate the daytime renovation of the airport runway after agencies overrode the carrier’s request for construction to be shifted to night hours.

Fly in the passengers in and out Ratmalana probably on a leased Q400 aircraft Helitours too have 2 MA60's that can be used , this maybe more cost effective than having to cancel flights- Aaqib Hussain

Rahal,
4R-ALL is not flying since 23-Oct. Has it been taken out of the service for leasing the aircraft to PIA ?
Any idea why Mihin Lanka aircraft are being painted in white livery? I thought these aircraft going to get painted in SriLankan colors? Will they change cabin of Mihin aircraft so it will match the SriLankan.
According to flightglobal, SriLankan will get 4 x A321neos next year. Is it true? Its already been reported SriLankan will get 6 x A320neos and the delivery starting from end of Jan 2017 to Jan 2018. So that means SriLankan is getting the both 6 x 320neos and 4 x A321neos?Comment
