Still not sure if they are going to disband Premier, news reported they are considering it but spokesman has denied the rumor.
Any update on PK launching direct flights to Sri Lanka?

Sorry to confuse people with my post - it is of course an A320NEO.

No pics yet which is probably because they keep it inside: enough hangar space after the year-end dlivery rush.

Might be there this weekend and will keep you guys posted.

I think the picture below would give you a glimpse of the chaos in CMB

The Bandaranaike International Airport was closed for eight hours beginning from 8.30 a.m. yesterday to facilitate repairs to its runway. Picture shows a scene at the immigration Counter.

Ha ha ha... Whoever the journalist posted that article apparently has never been through an airport. You do not carry all your luggage through the immigration.

The picture shows the checking in area and thanks to pathetic Sri Lankan ground handling agents, it almost always looks like that during the peak hours, runway closure or not.

                Azamh,
I have not been through CMB in over a couple of months, so may not have the latest information, but you might be able to just about make it provided that:

                1. Your luggage is tagged all the way to DOH and your boarding pass for the CMB-DOH sector is issued in SIN. (This will help you avoid the chaos shown in the picture posted by Speedbird and proceed directly to the immigration counters.)

                2. You take the new expressway to Colombo both ways. The travel time between the departure area from Airport to the entrance of Colombo city on the expressway is about 20 minutes. Same for the return.

                3. Since you will be reaching the city of Colombo around 11PM, the traffic cannot be that bad. However, this depends on how far in to the city you have to travel to settle your kids.

                4. If you get the taxi that you pick you up from the airport to take you back there as well, you will obviously save on the time spent waiting for a second taxi for the inbound trip.

                Good Luck!

Let's look at it like this. Firstly
1)SQ has to be spot on with there arrival time. Since the runway closure and all that mishap by any chance is the approaching flights to BIA put on hold. Due to traffic density.
2)from the jet bridges to the outside of the airport it would atleast take 1 and 1/4 hours minimum. With baggage claiming and all.
3)depends how far in Colombo you will have to drop your kids.
4)For the QR Flight regardless of you having a boarding pass you will be delayed than usual because BIA airport has a lot of security checks I think 4 or 3 not sure and due to runway closure passengers would be arriving for departure 5 hrs before. So long queues there as well.
                  So good luck.

This was Dec 2015 I was on quick business trip out of CMB for few days...As usual like a normal North American PAX I had a hand luggage and 2D barcode (UL) boarding pass...So pass through 1 security...2 nd security, no check in...pass immigration and straight to boarding gate...at the gate AASL security says sorry we do not accept eBP...they need printed boarding passess and a huge gong show...then the UL agent at the gate need to print a boarding pass and on...So I give my smartphone to agent to scan and it does not work...I told the agent don't release eBPs if you have not figured it out how to implement them...now I avoid CMB airport like a plague

expecting passengers to come to airport 5 hrs early is a utter madness... open more check in facilities...open a temporary large tent in the carpark or open a city check in facility to drop off luggage...these are proven processes no need to further display idiotic inefficiencies Sri Lanka is famous for

And finally get rid of this stupid exit controls by implementing APIS

                      Just curious,
Does all UL Airbus A330-200 have PTV's. If not what are the registrations that have. Since UL is operating them on long flights as well, what is the state of its cabin. I heard some are already showing signs of aging.

SriLankan Airlines codeshare partnerships contribute to 2 million tourists

The smooth functioning of Sri Lankan Airlines codeshare partnerships in the Western and Central European region contributed in a significant manner to the growth of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka in 2016, which expanded by 14% and crossed the 2 million milestone.
