This is true, I too got the same information.
The cost burden of the A330 is going to come back to UL

        Hi Haleef,

Do you know what the status of the A332 leases are? I am not sure about the rationale behind incurring more loss in leasing out the new planes and having them trashed rather than getting rid of the A332s and using the the A333s in their place.

Air France earlier this week opened reservation for planned service to Maldives, announced by the airline on Monday. From 01NOV17, the Skyteam member plans to operate Paris CDG – Male route twice a week, with 3-class Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.

            AF223 MLE1305 – 1935CDG 772 47

//. I think it's high time AF starts to cmb as UL doesn't fly to CDG

Why can't UL open up some routes like Perth Paris something like that then they can do a lot

                Hello,

I'm not very sure, but to my guessing I think they will be extending the lease of the A332. 4R-ALN will return to Colombo maybe tonight or tomorrow, as it is done serving PIA. But if they extend the lease of the A332, it would be no point, as the aircraft are very old, and they seriously need to be changed or replaced by a more efficient aircraft maybe.

SriLankan A320neo performed its first flight today nearly 1 hour ago at Germany. She will be landing in another 1 hours time today.

The highly successful six-month commercial contract by which SriLankan Airlines ‘wet leased’ an Airbus A330-300 aircraft on Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance and Insurance (ACMI) basis with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been completed following a flawless operation throughout the duration of the period of the contract. Captain Suren Ratwatte, CEO of SriLankan Airlines, said: “This contract...

I think AF and LH both should consider flying to CMB. KLM now have only seasonal flights in winter to CMB. But should also consider running throughout the year.
After UL stopped FRA and CDG flights, passengers from North America does not have good flight connections to SL as before.

They have EK, EY, QR, CX, SQ, JL(connecting to UL in NRT), KW just off the top of my head. Though admittedly I'm not sure how the timing is for connections on some of these carriers. But there are plenty of airlines to choose from.

ME3 provides well timed connections from all the major US cities to CMB via their hubs. If someone insists on flying with UL to CMB, they can always connect via LHR which has even more connectivity to USA than what ME3 offers.

No reason for UL to maintain hugely unprofitable continental European destinations.

UL should probably consider operating double daily to LHR throughout the year though and solidify their presence there.

ME3 and via LHR are the most convenient. The others while do-able might not be to everyone's taste.

There has been talk about going double daily to London again but with the current management/government changing their mind every month on what to do it's anybody's guess whether it will happen.
