Today i participated in to IWS AIRDROME opening ceremony at Welisara.. the chief guest for the event was Min. Nimal Siripala de Silva..
To be honest honest his speech very compare to many politicians..
Some of the news that he shared with the gathering...
1. Ratamalana soon will be dedicated to Domestic air lines.. and according to him many air liners have requested to use Ratmalana, but AIRFORCE has taken majority of space there.. from ministry end, the payment has been made to relocate those air port properties. and this will be helpful in be accommodating private air liners.
2. The temporary terminal at BIA will be completed in 06 months time (??)
3. Few other air ports have already being released and being lined up as fully pledge civilian air ports (ex Batticola)
4. Gov is encouraging private investors to invest in developing domestic aviation...
will see in time to come how much these will get realized...Comment

Hong Kong frequency is going to be restored from October. But I am surprised A321neo scheduled to Guangzhou and A320ceo scheduled for Hong Kong. Is business class trafic low on the Colombo - Hong Kong route? As per tourism report , tourists from China have reduced to Sri Lanka.Comment

It doesn't make sense 8 A320neo replacing 4 A350-900. There is some thing wrong in the negotiations between SriLankan and Airbus. Please see the 2018 Airbus List Prices per aircraft in USD. A320neo is 110.6m and A350-900 is 317.4m.
Previously Srilankan done the direct order for 6 A330-300 with Airbus but SriLankan sold the planes to leasing company and leased back. Aircraft leasing company paid Airbus in full and SriLankan took the delivery of the aircraft and SriLankan have been paying lease in installments to lessor. I think UL have to do the same for those 4 A350-900 if the contract can't be terminated or altered.
D-AVZG (4R-ANF) was parked outside the XFW-hangar last month but no sign of test flight yet. I believe Airbus is in the process of sorting the engines for it.Comment

Less passengers??? UL is operating A320/A321s instead of A330s these days for Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur.

I can see A332s also operating on Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur route from your above link. But Malindo and AirAsia have reduced the flights on Kuala Lumpur - Colombo route. I think the passenger demand have reduced between Malaysia and Sri Lanka since SriLankan started operating direct flights to Australia.Less passengers??? SriLankan Airlines is increasing Hong Kong route once again to 5 flights per week. Kochi flights have been reduced from 13 weekly to Daily but operating A332 on the daily basis.Comment

CPC warns ⛽ Fuel Supplies will be cut to SriLankan Airlines if they don't pay the bill by Wednesday. Its very important they are spending 5.9M on inflight magazine when they don't have money to pay the fuel for aircraft.
Really sad to see the situation of beloved national carrier. Morons have grounded the airline.
Better to close it down. Better to start the new airline without any political interference.

Yes it's Corruption alright - Corrupt Sri Lankan Politicians and their Cronies have pocketed $$Millions on the aircraft leasing deal(s).
This is 100% Sri Lankan Corruption - no outsiders involved.
Investigation(s) going nowhere - no charges against anyone involved.
The only real question now is when does the UBS loan money run out.
Since the IMF has forbidden any further money coming from the GOSL - the Airline will be unable to operate once the money runs out.
This would have happened in April but they somehow managed to get a loan from UBS in Singapore.
TIP: I would recommend you read the report on Chinese influence in Sri Lanka published in the New York Times - you won't be reading very much about this in the local papers. CPC could halt fuel on credit to SriLankan from Wednesday: Chairman
SriLankan officials said their flight operations would be disrupted and many flights would have to be cancelled if the CPC maintains its hardline stance on the matter.
Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva and Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna Ranatunga are to meet and hope to come to a compromise after Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.
