Still no annual report. Why not?

Last years report not signed off by any accounting firm.

2 years ago it was signed off by the finance ministry.

I suspect the published financials are fictitious and do not give the true state of the Airline. The CoI needs to do a financial audit to get the real facts (although I suspect some documents have gone "missing").

Some of you got upset with me last year when I posted about the state of the country - here's one of your own saying the same thing.

Sri Lankan Airlines will continue operations to Addu: Ace Aviation

Ace Aviation Services announced Thursday that Sri Lankan Airlines will continue flights between Addu Atoll and Colombo, despite an earlier decision to stop operations.

The Managing Director of Ace Aviation, Mohamed Firaq, stated that the government had requested to continue the flights, and vowed to resolve the issues Sri Lankan Airlines faced in operating to the southernmost atoll.

Ace Aviation had previously revealed that Sri Lankan Airlines decided to halt flight operations to Addu due to profit loss. According to Firaq, Gan International Airport's services were insufficient, and locals looking to travel to Sri Lanka from the nearby Fuvahmulah and Huvadhoo Atoll have limited access to the airport in Gan.

In addition, he stated that there were issues related to Immigration in Gan Airport.
Firaq revealed that the government has promised to resolve these issues, although the latter has not released a statement regarding the issue yet.

Firaq also shared plans to expand flight routes to other regions from Gan via Flyme, a privately owned Maldivian Airline operated by Villa Air, if the quality of the services provided at the Addu airport were improved.

According to Firaq, it would provide the opportunity for travellers to fly to Maamigili, Dharavandhoo and Huvadhoo Atoll from Gan International Airport via Flyme.

Sri Lanka’s national carrier, Sri Lankan Airlines, commenced scheduled flights from capital Colombo to Gan International Airport in Addu atoll on December 1, 2016. The airline operates three weekly flights between Colombo and Gan, on every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Don't we have the facility to paint the aircraft ? I am wondering why 4R-MRD not been painted in all white in CMB?

These losses are completely absurd. Out of all proportion.

                        U$115 million is U$12.77million/month or U$3.19 million/week or U$456,00 per day.

There is no end in sight - in fact there's another U$800 million due for 4 A350 according to the local papers.

With these losses they must be running out of money fast.

But there are still plenty of people earning big $$ (and talking Sri Lanka Big Talk BS) for doing absolutely nothing.

Not sure why they keep talking about restructuring - there's nothing to restructure.

Chairperson of the PCoI, Justice Anil Gooneratne asked Ratnayake whether the legal division of the airline had sent letters of demand to these institutions in a bid to collect the vast sums owed to it. “Since government institutions were involved we didn’t resort to legal action to recover the dues,” Ratnayake explained.
This is complete nonsense - no organisation is above the law.

The 12-member Committee appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena has recommended the Government re-embark on finding a strategic partner for debt-ridden SriLankan Airlines by focusing on debt restructuring, and expand internal capital generation to improve its odds of finding an investor. The Committee handed over its report, which was compiled in just two weeks, to President Sirisena on Tu ..
