The CEO in the above article (the one you posted) does state that UL will replace 3 A340s in 2014/2015. But he doesnt mention which aircraft they will buy to replace them with.

LHR has good road (M4/M25) and tube connection to connect with rest of UK. but any way good news...but not for me (arriving from any of the Canadian gateways) I would not do a LHR/LGW transfer
100% agree with you Speedbird, LHR - LGW trasfer is not worth at all. The only option we might have on this route is sometimes Air Transat has super deals out of Canadian gateways to Gatwick where you may be able buy a separate ticket with BA. However, still you need to go though customs which is kind of a pain.

Exporters upbeat on direct air-links with Seychelles, ‘An opportunity’ says SriLankan
        * Can avoid routing through Dubai hub

This is an interesting move because large numbers of European tourists fly to Seychelles. However very few airlines (I think its two, including Emirates) actually fly in.

As a result they charge high airfares and I have seen a lot of grumbling about this, as people who want to fly to the Seychelles have little choice.

Problem is how the traffic will be routed and is it feasible for SriLankan.

How far away is the Seychelles from Colombo? Will be the plane loads and the “direction” of travel be worth it time wise for passengers and economical for UL?

Earlier the UL CEO guy said something about opening routes to Mombasa and Johannesburg. Not bad ideas, if there is demand, it provides good links between these two locations in Africa and the Far East via CMB.

JNB would be a good destimaiton for UL as it could tap in to the HKG, SIN market provided the connection times are sensible.

But SEZ would be utter stupidity. SEZ is very well served by EK and EY and EY even bought a stake in HM (?). There is no business case for UL to justify such a route and even the O&D traffic would like to have a stop over in DXB or AUH, as opposed to flying direct.

BTW, it is true that both EK and EY are milking the route with high fares. But you will notice that Sechelles is a very expensive destination to start with. The beaches are out of this world though. If you ever go there, rent a car and drive around the main island. It's a lot of fun!

So Mihin will be having only 2 A321 from December? I mean are they just replacing A320 with new A321?

Airlines is to commence new destinations to Madurai in India in December this year and to Kathmandu in 2013. CEO revealed this in Katunayake Airport, at the occasion of adding a new flight to Mihin Lanka fleet on 25th.

SPICE JET STARTED BOOKING FOR MADURAI - COLOMBO - MADURAI SERVICES FROM 20th SEPTEMBER 2012

                              IXM - CMB 12.30 -13.45

                              CMB - IXM 14.20 - 15.20

CMB - IXM timing is similar to Mihin timing.

This is the very happiest moment in IXM History.................
